Your other post mentinoed you already count calories, which is more of a commitment than most people seem to be willing to make and should give you results. What are your objectives though - where are you now (height, weight, age, exercise program) and what do you want to achieve?

I can hardly recommend a program, be it a custom for you or a standard book, without knowing what you want...

here it is

H:5'8
W: 190 Lbs
A: 35

Exercise program: Pilates

But I am an emotional eater.  Here is what I found out in the net. Let me know which one of these works. Can anybody tell me which one? Since I am in a tight budget, here are the comparison with their cost

Weight Watcher - 3733.20 USD
Medifast (TSFL) - 833.84 USD
Nutrisystem - 1516. 59 USD
Slimfast - 2021.60 USD
South Beach Diet - 2912.00 USD

All base when losing 40 lbs.

Please advise

I have a hunch that the way these diets were compared is intrinsincly unfair. I observe that there are brand-name products associated with each of the 'programs' you listed so perhaps the way they were costed leaned heavily towards use of those products. Obviously there are a number of ways of doing Weight Watchers or South Beach that do not require use of any of their products, wheras the other 3 programs definitely do require the products to be purchased.

How would you cost programs like BFFM (an online book costing about $40) or 'Eat To Live' (a book you can purchase for less than $15 or get free at your local library). The BFFM approach is about methodically achieving results and it is numbers-focused. The Eat To Live approach has health and micronutrients as the focus. In both programs, as you have complete control over which foods you buy at the shop, you can obviously are the one determining the cost by your choices. You can spend as much or as little as you like. Personally I like 'Eat To Live' because I like to eat large amounts of food and this program encourages me to eat large quantities (of healthy foods). I'm also on a budget - so I do it on a budget.

In this topic you say you're doing Pilates (in the other topic you mentioned walking and swimming). If I assume you're basically sedetary I'd recommend you eat around 1600 calories a day (that is your unadjusted RMR) and should you burn extra calories with a bit of activity that will work in your favour. I certainly wouldn't eat less than 1500.

Another "program" which has helped me no end is Overeaters Anonymous. What's the cost of this program? One of its traditions states "there are dues or fees" (you can make a donation). After all, which program you pick hardly makes a difference unless you have the 'tools' to stick with it.

good luck.
