Hi everyone!  I have been looking since the new year to find support to measure my diet calories.    I am struggling.  I have a 8 mo old daughter:)  and I lost all the weight in the beginning (45lbs) in 3 1/2 months but now I am just lacking motivation and drive to eat perfectly, don’t get me wrong I eat all the good natural foods (my husband is a personal trainer/body builder so I have that to face everyday;) its portions.  I am hungry all the time.  I have always struggled with weight so this is nothing new but I have never struggled with getting myself to the gym...  I just am bored or getting really unmotivated yet I am consuming the same amount of calories I would if I were still lifting on a regular basis etc.  I guess I just need support so I can maintain and hold on to my current weight and if that goes good drop ten.  Any advice to control my body fat?

Some foods are healthy in moderation but are relatively easy to eat too many calories from. In decending order: nuts/seeds/avocado; whole grains; legumes; starchy vegetables; fruit; cooked green vegetables; raw green vegetables.

So therefore my trick would be to eat larger portions of the foods further on in the list, and scale down the ones at the beginning of the list. In other words: if you're over-eating on grains, switch to starchy vegetables; if you're eating too many calories from fruit, shift the emphasis to vegetables. If you're overdosing on cooked broccoli, slow down by eating more raw vegetables.

Some people find it easy to scale certain foods down whilst others behave like addicts with one slice of bread leading to 10. If you find a food where 'one is never enough' you might like to try completely avoiding it.

I recommend the R&D Diet Cookie.  It's a food, not a drug and it really eliminates hunger!  You can use them to lose weight until you get your eating under control again.  They work for me!

Sounds like maybe you should do something different for exercise. If you are getting bored and unmotivated then try something different.

Maybe something you have never done before.

I do everything from machines to tapes to the wii fit. Don't limit yourself.

Have to say Nir makes a good point. Potatoes for me are the worse. I can't just eat one. It has to be until I can't eat anymore. So, now I only have them once in a blue moon.

I went to the site and I didn't find any nutrition journal or anything else that was helpful as far as losing weight goes. I don't know, maybe you have to sign up to get those features.

Anyway, the only thing I seen on there was a blog that you wrote yourself on how you were starting the site. So, I guess this is a plug for your own business.

I was told that if you find something you are good at never do it for free!  I am a good  personal trainer and the site offers a nutritional journal that has a link that says make smarter food choices.  I don't know what your workout regiment is or what level you are at with your fitness so it would be irresponsible for me as a professional to make wide generalized solutions.  If you can give me specific details as to what you have been doing for the last 6-8months I can offer better suggestions.  I know nothing about you besides the fact that you are seeking help, and because i wouldn't want to risk injuring you I would need to know more about your current program.

I have been a personal trainer in Omaha, NE for the past 8 years.  Typically when I meet with a new client there are four things we must address.  First we have to look at what & how much you are consuming.  I work with the facts, weight loss only occurrs if their is a deficit created by reduction in food intake or increase in energy expenditure.  So nutrition will be 70% of your results.  Secondly, we need to address energy expenditure, cardio and resistance training.  Lastly we need to look at committment, consistency, and education.  Don't ever misconstrue this, you are talking about the most complex machine on the planet, you must approach it with a systematic science based approach.  It is not your fault that you don't know these things, this is not the profession you chose for a career. The same as if I walked in to an accountants office and told them how I would be better than them at doing my own taxes! I do advocate making the investment in time and money and finding a certified professional that can help educate you and show you how to break through your current stalling point.  The link I referred to can be found by typing in

John, I encourage you to take a look at your profession and ask yourself this," If I was not being paid to do what I do would I wake up everyday with a smile and a desire to be the best at it?"  I believe that your passion should always align with your pension.  If you are not motivated to BE your best at whatever you chose to do, then you are standing in the way of someone that does!  Life is given to everyone, but not everyone truly lives life!

Thank you for your advice. Being an artist I am one of the blessed in that my pleasure (painting) provides with money. Holidays and weekends don't exist, I am on a permanent painting holiday.

Many people on this site if you read the diary's have lost a great deal of weight without paying anybody any money. We motivate each other with our diaries and weight loss challenges. No money passes hands.
You are clearly here touting for business and I understand that, but don't condone it.

I am motivated to workout and eat a healthy diet. Calories in calories out. It does not need trainers or diet books or diets.

It is so simple but difficult to do. It requires discipline and self motivation and above all else takes time.

John, I appreciate your civility.  I agree with you that motivation and discipline are the answers to the weight loss problem.  What I know to be true is that 70% of the population have neither.  If it were a simple fix then people wouldn't die from obesity related diseases.  I am not here simple to tout my website, I know more so than anyone the struggle people go through to lose weight.  I have changed lives far beyond just weight loss.  I am here because motivation, and discipline are not enough for many people out there. I am here because of the fact that you and so many others need my help to understand that because of the fact that technology has us doing this, we need to go out and run in place or move heavy, inantimate objects that don't need to be moved.  The thought that just plain and simple calories in vs calories out will solve the problem is the reason why so many people experience things such as plantar fasciitis, overuse injuries at the knees, hips, and low back.  Weight loss isn't that simple and the fact that you would tell me that you know more about my profession and can offer better advise than I can, is like telling you that I can appreciate art more than you can.  Lets agree to disagree, and realize this is a muted issue. We will both hold onto our idealogy and pass by as strangers on the street.

P.S. go to this website this weekend and read the editorial on my client Jocelyn McNamara.  She lost 140lbs over the last year and a half. She deserves the credit, I just stood by her and guided her in the right direction.  skinnyscoopers.com

Ok, this site here helps people and supports people in losing weight for FREE! So, you can either offer your advise for free or not. This is not a site where you offer advise for a price....

I think that is all anyone is trying to get across to you. Is that we try to help each other in losing weight and we are not here to sell stuff. So, you can either do the same or leave...

All I have done is offer advise, didn't ask for a fee or any of the ill treatment I have recieved.  This is the reason so many people fail at this quest, because they look at everything through a negative lense.  Remember this that I offered how one can get help, all I can do is offer the advise, it is up to the listener to use it.  I wanted to change the topic and say CONGRATULATIONS, to my client Jocelyn McNamara, she was featured on skinnyscoopers.com, if you would like to read her story go to that website and click on the link that reads scooperstars.  She has done an awesome job and deserves the recognition she is recieving.

  Here here Cport

Trobinson

You can't type more than a dozen words without linking to one of your money making sites. Have you noticed that long term members here don't do that.

Go away, with love:grin: and leave us to lose weight and get healthy for free:cool:
