I completely recommend all women to take a seriously look at their local curves (hopefully you have one) but I love it. Its such a welcoming envoiroment and you do get what you put into it with the machines. Its helped me loose 7 lbs in the first week and a half (I have about 70-80 more to go) but I know i can get there with them! Some people may tell you its just for begginners but if they say that, they havent actually been to one. I bust my butt every day (well 5x a day) and I get the best workout I have ever had in my entire life! I try to make it 5 times a week and the 2 other days I cant (when I have class) , I do 1-2 miles on the treadmill.

Hey kfinny!  Mind if I ask about how much does it cost to join?

Do you have to sign a contract for a specified amount of time?  I guess they have complete facilities with locker rooms and showers?

I have thought about joining our Curves but I live about 15 miles from it and the gas would be rough for me right now.

Just curious...

The cost for me to join was just the first month payment which is $34.00/mo. At the time I joined they were waiving the joining fee and I know they do that alot throughout the year. Also if you go in and talk with them, they would definitly work with you if thats an issue. I had to sign a contract for a year, but the great thing about that is that if you want to cancel its only a 50 fee which is MUCH cheaper than some of the other gyms ive been too. My curves doesnt have showers but they do have changing rooms and of course bathrooms. The fact that its a 30 minute quick workout people are usually just in and out. TO be honest its totally worth it for me. I hate excersize as im sure many do, and this is so do-able for me and I feel like I get a great workout on my entire body every time. Its also not intimitating like other gyms, thats always something that has bothered me and stopped me from going.

Oh and they have lots of contests and drawings and stuff.. My girlfriend (who also lost around 70 lbs with curves) won a diamond neckalace from her curves valued at around $7,000.00. :-) Our curves is giving away a scooter for the summer.

Good luck :-)

I am a devoted CURVES fan too!  I joined about 4 years ago.  I had already lost a lot of weight, before I joined, but I needed to tone it up.   I love that it's only women............at my CURVES we are very casual in what we wear, you don't have to have the latest workout wear............I  love :heart:the stretching station...........and I  love that I can complete the circuit in 30 minutes.    Ours isn't in a large town, so I can't see them ever giving away a diamond necklace, but they do have contests and give away t-shirts and prizes.   At ours, March is always food shelf month, and they waive the joiners fee ($150 at ours) for a bag of groceries..........so you might want to check that out.

Besides all the things I love about it..........I love the way I feel.   I had to regularly go to a chiropractor before I joined.   But with the new muscle strengthening, and the stretching, I often went 2-4 months between adjustments.    And I loved seeing the definition in my arms and legs.........and the flattening of my tummy!   I just started back, after being off CURVES for 1 1/2 years, due to back to back tennis elbow injuries (while gardening).........I've just been flying high, and so excited about going back.   I never cancelled my membership..........I let it be deducted out of the checkbook, because I knew that I'd be back, as soon as I was healed.
