It's almost time for the next challenge, everyone!

Here are the guidelines for the Fall Weight Loss Challenge (similar to those of the previous ones):
  1. The challenge will run from Monday, September 1st through Friday, October 31st.

  2. You may join the challenge at any time beginning September 1st, and late-comers are most welcome. You can even join the challenge in October.

  3. To join the challenge, post your starting weight and goal weight.

    You may choose any goal you like. But if your goal is to lose more than 18 pounds during the challenge period -- more than two pounds a week -- please explain why you think your goal is realistic.

    This website is dedicate to healthy, common sense, lasting weight loss, and does not support crash diets which do not have realistic expectations of producing long-term results.

    For more information, please see the Tutorial and the forum topic The Most Likely Reason Your Diet Will Fail.

  4. Pick a day for your weekly weigh-in, and stick to it a closely as you can. Then post your current weight each week -- or as often as you would like!

    You may wish to read:  How Often Should You Weigh Yourself

    Those who are not losing weight, and those who are gaining, will receive praise for continuing to participate. It's so easy to run and hide! We've all been there ourselves.

    We also know that by participating, they are very likely doing better than they otherwise would be.

  5. The results will be updated every Wednesday (or more often) and posted right here just below these instructions, so they will always be easy to find.

    We want the challenge stats to be realistic and reflect active challenge members, so anyone not posting for two consecutive weeks will be dropped from the list. But they will be put right back on the next week should they post again.

    If you need to withdraw from the challenge, please have the courtesy to post a farewell note or send me a Private Message (PM). Your name will be removed without comment.

  6. You are encouraged to share how you are doing during the challenge, and especially to give each other support. However, to make it easier for me to find your weekly weight, please make sure your weight stands out.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to post them or send me a PM.

Hi I would like to participate in this challange as well

However i will be going on a hloiday for 3 weeks in middle of October but will still try my hardest as these challenges really help me it is like competing myself which feels great.

My current weight 136lbs

My Target weight 126lbs

Hello

Count me in on the challenge - as well.  I'll be away for a couple of weeks in September but I like the accountability factor these challenges provide.  My current weight is 122 and my goal weight will be 120.  It seems kind of wimpy - just 2 pounds in 2 months but these 2 pounds are hard to get off!

I found that it's easier for me to concentrate on losing just 2 pounds at a time - when I initially started in January my goal was 117 - since I wasn't reaching it fast enough I decided to lower my sights a bit and it's made all the difference in the world.  Baby steps, as they say.  Anyway, glad to be on board.  My check in days will be Saturday.

I'll be joining this challenge too, I guess the more times I enter the more chance I have of succeeding :tongue: Not sure what my starting weight will be, but as I'm making Monday my weigh in day I'll be back then. My goal will probably be 120lb [again] though. Thanks for taking this on!

Word, I'm down for another challenge.

Starting weight: 380.00 pounds

Goal Weight: 360.00 pounds

I'll maintain my current weigh-in schedule for Saturdays.

20 pounds is sort of a lot to lose, but I somehow managed to lose about 30 pounds or so in the last challenge, partly because I do have so much excess weight to lose, so I think I can afford to set a slightly higher goal for myself. I expect great success for myself and everyone who chooses to participate! Best of luck all around!! :grin: :grin: :grin:

To be honest I am expecting weight gain and I might languish at the bottom of the table, but having ran the previous challenge I know that it is difficult to run a challenge when somebody has a zero or negative goal (or indeed weighs themselves in kilos :smile:). If I actually lose anything it'll just be a bonus, but I want to stay involved.

I haven't tried a challenge yet...maybe it will be the thing I need to lose the last 10 and look sexy for my 9yr anniversary on the 31st!  Unfortunately I have a 12 day vacation in the middle of this one but there are plenty of other days!

I am behind as usual...

OT:  I have a question...I need to adjust my calories and not sure how many I need to be eating. My activity is 1.5hrs per day 6 days a week= 500 calories burned each time. Now that I weigh less I need to adjust my 1200 and up it. My Dr is saying this is still ok but my weight loss has slowed down so I do not know if that is normal or if I need to eat more. Can someone help me?

Hi, everyone!  I can't wait to start this new challenge.  Thanks for hosting it, Crimson! 

Starting weight:  121 lbs

Goal weight:  119 lbs

Even though that's only a two pound loss, I think it is reasonable.  I'm pretty close to my over all goal weight but I still need to lose some fat, so my thinking is that I will displace some of the fat with muscle, which will mean a more modest weight loss.  I hope that makes sense.

Wow, we have quite a challenge going on here! I'm trying to get some of my family to join in, too. We'll see. :cool:

Jen, your unadjusted RMR is 1533. This is generally the minimum number of calories you should eat per day. If 1200 isn't working for you, I recommend you gradually increase it and see if that helps.

I've decided to get serious about dieting again... I was on about a 10 month binge :).

SW: 150.6 (as of today, Thursday)

GW: 135... to fit into my mermaid costume... my boyfriend is a fisherman :)

Loss: 15.6 (in 57 days= 1.95 lbs. per week)

Okay, here's my first weigh in and I'm down to 204 - loss of 3 lbs in one week.  So... let me think about what I did right...

First off I've always recorded what I've been eating, and for the longest time I've been telling myself that it's just so tough to record it all in the "Food Calories and Nutrition Calculator"... but guess what?  When you aren't eating a boat load every day:chewing:, it actually isn't too tough!!!:tongue:

I lowered my calories from about 1700 to an average of 1463 this week.  I'm not a big "aerobic o holic" so my vow was to find something I could do everyday without saying "I'm really not in the mood" - it turns out walking my daughter about 3k to 5k every evening seems to be something I can look forward to.  I got myself a little pulse monitor to make sure I keep my heart rate up above 75% at all times too.  Kinda like walking away from Freddy Krueger.

I also needed a little help with portion control, so I bought a bunch of Lean Cuisines... they are a savior for me in the evenings when I'm making dinner for my otherwise thin family.  They keep the temptation away from snacking on more than I can handle.  In the mornings I have cereal or a poached egg with toast, in the afternoon I have a 6" sandwich modeled after the "Subway" ones, and then my little meal in the evening.  I get a little yogurt or a piece of fruit sometime around 3 when my little mental clock starts telling me "EATING WOULD BE REALLY GOOD RIGHT NOW".

So, what did I do wrong... well, onion rings on Thursday (yikes) and a sausage McMuffin yesterday (balloon races - convenience food).  Oh, and two margaritas on Saturday night... when will I learn that those things just set you back?  Still, overall, not a bad week...

Marebear - you post day can be whenever you want.   Mine is Monday, too.  (since the last day is Friday some poeple want to end it right on time - it started on a Monday, that's what I go by.   Either/Any works)

I feel like I am cheating the system for reporting this weeks weight since I have had a stomach bug since Friday and haven't been really able to eat ... but it will be a challenge to see if I can maintain it this week when I can eat again:chewing:

Hey everyone, after a very long summer I am back and needing to loose.  I am currently at 147.4 up a couple pounds over the summer.  My goal for this challenge is 142.  Its not that much but I am looking to loose and keep it off.  thanks for letting me come a bit late.  I'm just back at school and getting in my old routine.

Crimson, sorry for posting late...things got a little crazy over there in the land of the baby powder dust (yes, it's just like that...hard to believe until you see if for yourself-imagine filling your room with a 6 inch layer of baby powder, hiding a bunch of baseballs in the powder, then walking across the room...)

Lets all keep on loosing. we must remember though that sometimes the body will not let it go until it is ready.  So if one is holding or even gaining it doesn't necessarily mean we are not loosing in the long run.

Absolutely Maggie - I remember someone telling me when I first started working out and dieting that it is even common to gain because you are gaining lean muscle which always weighs more than fat.  This can be discouraging if this is the initial reaction to a new lifestyle.

That's up from where I started........or sort of.   I used my ending weight from the last challenge.    I know I was up after Labor Day weekend, so I knew I'd have a bit to lose, over and above my goal.   Also, had salty tasting meatloaf on Friday night, and TTOM started.   Next week will be down :cool:

Ok, I wasn't going to join this challenge, but changed my mind. Just maybe I can kick those last few pounds after all.

Starting weight 124lbs. (that's my average right now)

ending weight 120lbs (again)

Going to make weds. my weigh in days and I will be posting my average every time. I don't know if that is necessary now since my weight hasn't been having large swings as it was before. Anyway, its tuesday now. So, I will not be weighing in until next wed.

Sadly, I'm still stuck at 200 pounds this week (I knew I shouldn't have had that Dairy Queen...and McDonalds....and...^_^;). I meant to weigh myself in the morning (before the water weight could really set in, and all), but I didn't have time. Hopefully, this coming week shall be better! I have to go to the gym three days a week to jog and lift weights (twenty minutes each!) for my P.E. class (to think, it's only worth .5 credits, too...), so, yeah... I signed up for it so that I wouldn't have an excuse to not work out, so hopefully I'll have lost a few next week. ^_^

Congratulations to those who have lost, and keep up the good work, everybody! ^_^

Hi.  I'm in.  If you read my diary, you'll see I've had a little setback...Hurricane Gustav.  Yep, he blew thru causing me much stress, thereby resulting in days of overeating.  Anyway, excuses aside, I'll weigh Friday morning and report my weight and my goal for this challenge if that's okay.  Just can't force myself to weigh without a couple days of getting back into the groove.  Hope that's ok.  Thanks.

This week, based on my highest scale weight, I'm calling my weight at 116lb. Although it looks like I've reached my goal, I think there is a good chance my weight will do a few more loop-the-loops during the challange period and I could easily end up heavier than my starting weight: so we shall not count our chickens before they've hatched.

CURRENT WEIGHT - 203.33 (averaged)

So that's 3.67 down from my starting weight and 0.67 down from last week.

Thanks Crimson for doing this challenge... it IS helping me stay focused.  Yesterday I actually weighed in at 202, but I know it's best to take the average because that was just one of those phantom good days. 

Things I did right: I restricted myself out of about 100 more calories each day.  I'm holding at 40 to 60 minutes of moderate exersize, and increased fluids (water!)... and getting enough sleep helps too.

Things I did wrong: Actually yesterday was the only day I slacked off.  Missed my 5k job in the morning and ate about 200 more calories than I planned... I had a sales meeting and eating out always does me in.  Back on track today... I know I'm down to the "stubborn" weight - so I'll have to work extra hard this week. 

I'm worried - I'm going camping... I'll have to make sure it's not "lounging" that I'm doing but "hiking and swimming".

Camping is a great way to get exercise. I usually walk the campground in the morning and then again at night. I am jealous of you getting to go. I wanted to go so bad this weekend, but it is raining here for friday and sat. So, no point in camping in the rain. Have fun!

Well...LOL. 

I had no idea until there it was looking right at me saying, yes cheat and try one (maybe a once in a life time exp), you must have me (lol). I asked the woman who was completely and utterly enjoying her's where could I find one? After she told me my mother and I were on a mission.  To our surprise...it's a snickers on a stick (like a corndog), then batter dipped (sweet), then fried. OH yeah....IT WAS WORTH  IT AND EVERYTHING I HOPED IT WOULD BE :grin:.  I have no idea how many calories I ate but I added 1hr of pilates, 40 minutes of strength, and an extra 1hr of cardio to help offset it this past week.

Thanks for the nice words. But, I really think the last pound was do to turmoil in my life yesterday, resulting in not much to eat. So, I think I will see bigger numbers in the week to come. But, I really hope that I can hold my own and keep it down.

Don't ask me how this is possible.  I have no idea.  Just suddenly I was down two pounds, despite eating a piece of pizza the night before.  I thought it was water weight but I've stayed at 118 the past few days.  I'm still waiting for it to go back up...

Isn't that horrible how we think it's going to go back up all the time. It's like we tell ourselves that just so we won't be disappointed if it does go back up.

awesome work!

ive had that happen before too...sometimes it could just be water weight sticking to you a  bit and then it's gone. and sometimes if you eat something, it'll help  boost your metabolism a bit. so it's always a plus to not restrict yourself from eating completely-just look what happened for you!! :)

 

i cant wait til i start hitting my goals :)

Hi.  I'm here with head hung low.  I finally got on scale after two weeks of Hurricane Gustav stress eating.  I need to revise my numbers, please.  Starting weight 179 (yep, up 11#) so new goal weight will be 165.  Suffice it to say my Gustav gut, that's what I'm calling it, is being worked off.

Weigh in, 170 no loss, no gain.

I started weight trining this month and even though my weight has stayed the same I have lost 2 inches off my waist and an inch off each thigh. So, 4 inches lost so far this month, that's gotta count for somthing :grin:

199 is actually my end of the year goal. Getting down to 200 by the end of next month would require unbelievable commitment, along with a required constant sense of happiness and go-gettedness.

You know, I met my weight loss goal early in each of the two prior challenges. I've noticed that I tend to work less hard after I've done this. Perhaps this is subconscious, and I don't realize it.

All right, Cindy. I accept the challenge! I'll adjust my goal to 199. This means I will need to make two changes:

1.) On Sundays, I will need to limit the junk. I still need to eat more calories on this day, and I can still have a small treat, but I need to practice true moderation.

2.) You might see me upping my official cardio session to 2 hours daily rather than 1.5. I might even give this crazy elliptical another go, and use it for my extra 30 minutes. Or...I might just go back to walking on the treadmill for 90 minutes. :grin:

Some of you might have noticed that I try to set goals that are reasonable, but allow me to be a little bit of a bad boy some of the time. I'm going to try to be an angel until October 31st. :tongue:

Don't feel bad, I know how you feel. Just had my cholesterol done this morning, and now am waiting patiently to find out the results. Thank goodness my thyroid has been the same for over 6 months now.

I feel your pain, it's very hard to lose any weight when dealing with a thyroid condition. So, hang in there....it will get better.

Hey, the up side is at least you don't have to fast before a thyroid test... :wink:

Ok, I have thought about this and thought about it. Should I put down my weight for today. Cause, I had a little bit of a pig out today and my weight might be up tomorrow for weigh in. So, what do you all think.....

The reason I want to put todays weigh in down is that I will have to keep it down to that next week. If I put a high mark down tomorrow, then I have more to work with, and not in a good way.

Does that make sense? Anyway, what do you guys think I should do?

I say put it down today... cause by next week any damage you've done today will all be evened out.

Even though it's not my official weigh-in day I'm putting mine down just because I'm excited... 146.8!!! My weight is rarely down after a long weekend so I try to make it up during the week... but that's 1 lb!

Woah...I weighed myself this morning, and I was definitely 196 pounds, meaning that I've lost four for this week. After the disaster that was last week (all right, it wasn't that horrible, but still pretty bad), I didn't think I had it in me, but there ya' go...

Sorry forgot to post my Monday update. Work flipped my nights schedule to a days schedule over the weekend and I am not sure what day it is anymore.

CW: 150 (+1.4lbs) :crying:

Not sure what brought this on. I was very careful to adjust my eating with the new schedule and worked out 4 days last week.

I'm going to post my weight at 143 today. Yesterday it was 148, then today it was 142 mid-day, and now it's 145.

Hey butterfly, I know what you mean about the daily changes. I have found a way (actaully found it on someones post in on antoher thread) anyway... I weight myself every day and record it then once a week(Tuesday for me)  I average those numbers and that number is what I consider is my gain/loss for the week. It really helps me deal with the daily flucutations without over reacting. I find for me 2 pounds in a day one way or the other is not unusual but the weekly average really helps me and I think it is a true relection of where my weight is. Anyway just a thought.

Hey foco, it does stink at times. Any specific challenge we can help you with? I find that this site has a lot of people willing to help, all of us are going through this together. sometimes we need a pat on the back, sometimes a kick in the butt and sometimes just others to listen so let us know where your struggling (you don't have to be specific, just in general) and I am willing to bet you will get some great ideas.

My weight this morning was 170.2. Down from last week, but up from my start weight, still.

I was in denial at the start of this challenge, I blamed my gain on water. But I think the truth is that I was on an upward trend.

If I did not join the challenge, I might have been in trouble!

I am having the same problems. In the first two challenges this year, I lost a total of about 15 pounds, plus put on some nice muscle. It was just too much for me to try and keep it up over the summer, so it is as if I am backtracking a bit.

So I went back to the five times a week workouts and calorie counting. Next week I am adding weight training.

What really sux is that this was all so easy 10 years ago!

Thankx Cportwine!  I had a great time with my family - did lots of walking, but not a lot of strength training - unless you count walking in sand LOL.  End of year camping here means lots of dried up lakes I'm afraid... but that gives my calves a workout.:palms:

My weight for my first weight-in is ... 160.2 :sad: (up 2.2lbs)

I had a big bag of salty snacks last night before bed so I probably have a ton of water weight. Next Friday my aim is for 156 lbs. Wish me luck.

Nick, I see you're in the lead in the challenge (again - congratulations) with a loss of 6.7% of your initial body weight, and you're hiding this by having the table sorted by '% to Goal' as opposed to '% Body Loss' :smile:

I did have it sorted by % Body Loss for a while, but now 3 people have met their goals (along with a 4th one who will meet it again, I'm certain :wink:). They set goals, they reached those goals, and they deserve their day in the sun! :cool:

I'll probably switch it back and forth between % to Goal and % Body Loss occasionally, so that all of us can be recognized for the fabulous individuals we are. :wink:

Im a little late, but I'm in.  Sorry for the delay, but my laptop has been sick and I've been broke, which meant no internet for six weeks.

Current weight is 141 and I'd love to be at 126 by the end of October (it's a stretch, but setting my goals higher than I can reach them motivates me).

Sorry I'm a little late but I would like to join the challenge.

My starting weight (as of a week ago I haven't weighed myself this week yet). is 181

My Goal Weight is 170

My overall goal is to get down to 150 that is a good healthy weight for me. Though I am trying to focus less on the weight and more on how I feel and look.

So far since December I have lost 23lbs.

I will check back in with you guys on Friday.

Hey foco, it does stink at times. Any specific challenge we can help you with? I find that this site has a lot of people willing to help, all of us are going through this together. sometimes we need a pat on the back, sometimes a kick in the butt and sometimes just others to listen so let us know where your struggling (you don't have to be specific, just in general) and I am willing to bet you will get some great ideas.

ACK...sorry with a new puppy my www time has taken a back seat- I forgot to log in on Sunday.

My CW 176 not as much as I hoped but it's a loss still the same. I have also reached my 1/2 point in my total weight loss- a HUGE milestone for me. Four mths into this and I have dropped from a tight 20 to a nice 12. It is still hard for me to see a 51 pound weight loss when I look in the mirror. My friends and family can see but I can't seem to grasp the whole picture. I mean...duh, I can see it but I still have so much there that I need to loose so all I see is a slightly smaller me. I am just not sure when it will really hit me. Right now, I am at a point where I see skin not adjusting well to the loss and I am 35 so only time will tell if it will adjust. I might after all this still be looking into plastic surgery but at least I am much healthier.

and so the journey continues...

As sad as it is, for this week's weigh-in, I must remain at 196 pounds (I DID gain a pound earlier in the week, but all of my DDR-ing must have paid off, because it's gone, now ^_^;). I'm in my first year of college, though, and most people my age are currently going through the ridiculous "freshman fifteen". So, I'm not being TOO hard on myself for not losing...at least I'm not having a major gain! ^_^;

Wheo, I second the congrats to those who have not lost. As Peter has said before, it takes real character to stay in the challenge despite not seeing the results you want to see. Just remember, this is a lifetime journey. All of us are taking more positive steps toward our health, and that is what's important. The results will come - with time. Just keep pluggin' along!

Sorry I don't have any suggestions tamahat... but I'm right there with you! I always eat late at night (my last meal is usually around 10:00). I think for me it means I didn't eat enough during the day... could that be your case too?

Tamahat73 Usually to keep myself from eating late at night I brush my teeth around 9pm and that usually deters me from eating. Also I will make my own popsicles usuing orange or apple juice and that helps sometimes.

Tam, it is the toughest.  In addition to Alethomas' suggestion I try to be sure to have sugar-free Popsicles, dill pickles and greek style yogurt in the house. No I don't eat them together:shock: that would be a horrible mix, but that way I have as sweet option w/ the Popsicles, a salt option with the pickles and a creamy option with the yogurt. I only allow myself one of those items after supper depending on my craving and it seems to help me get past it. Of course you may not be getting enough calories in the day time. I try to split my calories into 5 small meals and space them somewhat evenly over the day. Good luck, it isn't easy I know.

Hi Tam,

I know what you mean about the late night cravings.  I've often found that if I stay up late, long after dinner I get what I call my "second dinner wind". 

Having something warm to drink at night, like a mug of decaf or herbal tea with a little milk and even splenda , if you have a sweet tooth can help.  Focusing on a project, homework or book also takes my mind off food.  I've started using meditation tapes to help me relax at night and drift off to sleep.

My suggestions are not the greatest but they sometimes help to distract me from thinking about food at night.

Thanks to everyone for all the great tips! I usually can stick to about 1500 calories all day long (and feel really proud of myself for it!) and then blow it impulsively, with an extra 400-600 calorie "binge", like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,  around bed time.  I think I have been just trying to deprive myself of after-dinner snacks, and it feels like punishment, so to make myself feel better I eat, when I've done so well all day!!! Maybe the better way is to allow myself one of the healthy choices that you suggested as a reward for doing so well all day...And just cutting a few calories out at lunch or breakfast to make up for it? And I will start to brush my teeth earlier as well. That sounds like a great detterent, huh?  After all , who ever heard of a peanut butter, jelly and peppermint toothpaste combo? Eww,  Yuck!!!  Again, thanks to all and good luck!:smile: Tam

Hello

I am back from vacation - so I weighed in and I have a 1 pound gain - not too bad considering that I went way off my schedule - hardly any working out but lots of walking around and not much snacking but eating 3 small meals a day - all in all it's a success for me.  I am at 123 today - so now I have to get back into the groove and back to working out and making wise food choices.

ok the same as last week. I tell ya... but have talked to a dietician here at work that used to work gastic bypass pts with my questions and thoughts and hopefully have a plan that works for me since my old one needed some tweaking for it to work again.

I'm down to 131.2 That's only down .2 from an entire week of doing great on both diet and exercise. That was discouraging, so the last couple of days I definitely ate too much. Oh well, ready to keep working and do better next week. :nono:

I would like to join the challenge. My weight is

my goal is 240.  I am in a biggest loser contast at work. I started in March at 310.  I don't know who to ask.  You have done great.  So i thought i would ask you.  When do you stop losing water weight? And the second question is.  Can you walk to much.  I am walking about 50 miles a week.  I walk a mile in about 15 and half minutes per mile.  Alot of people say that I am walking too much.  I have not had a physical pain. My email is kepeaske @ comcast.net if you have any answers for me.  If you don't thats ok also.

I really can't see how you can walk to much. Like exercise is a bad thing. :dizzy:
I would do what you are comfortable at, not what others say. If your not getting any injuries from walking- then go for it.

I don't really know about water weight but I would say you are way past that stage. As for the walking...I don't believe you can walk too much as long as it is not causing you any pain I say keep going. I walk 30-40 miles a week and I have been for years just be sure you have good walking shoes and remember to stretch (I didn't and that caused me some issues) but go for it and tell those people who say it too much to MYOB,:wink: Nice going.

Hello, all! ^_^ I forgot to weigh in yesterday (sorry about that, by the way), and I was worried that I'd gained back everything I'd lost. However, I just weighed myself about an hour ago, and I'm down to 194 pounds! I've lost two more! =D That was pretty exciting, so...*pats self on back*. However, I AM going home this weekend, and whenever that happens, people tend to want to feed me. ^_^; I'm going to need to really watch it this time around; I'm making such progress, I don't want to hold myself back!

Ok C.W. 147 down 1 pound but skeptical if it is actually fat loss.  I've had a sinus infection and haven't been able to exercise for 3 days now and my appetite is really poor.  So probably water loss....we'll see!

Hey Maggie, I have been at 200 for almost the same amount as you, and my resolve did waver.  I ate pizza yesterday, chocolate bar, half bag of potato chips and some hard candies...this morning I weighed myself and it is reading 198? I don't get it...hang in girl!!

Larrabeeskot,  No worries!  I had a weird gain last week too even though I was good… things worked back out after a week.  Sometimes things just act funny, ya know?

 

Maggie, hold onto your strength girl!  Plateau’s suck… last year I got down to 197 and couldn’t get past it so I gave up.  Little by little, that “give up moment” gained me ten pounds.  In fact, now that I think about it, all of my little give up moments added up over the last 10 years have put 50 lbs on my frame.  I have to keep remembering that I have to fight for this…

I am the proud owner of a scale that measures body fat, so I am able to track this.  Woo hoo!  I will make my weigh-in day be Fridays, but I won't be able to post until next Friday because I left my #%@&! scale at work at an off-site location.

Hey guys...not going to post a weight today as I didn't get a good weigh in this morning.

However, I did complete the Army 10-Miler Shadow Run this morning!!!!  2:02 for 10 miles...quiet pleased with myself.  :grin::grin:  Knees are sore, but not unbearably so and I know I'll sleep like a rock tonight.

Hi, I would like to join the challenge.  I have been off the site for a while and a challenge is just what I need. 

My starting weight is 256 lbs, and my goal is to loose 8lbs.  My weigh in day is Monday mornings, I try really really hard to only weigh once a week, otherwise I get caught up in the changes and get discouraged.

Not that I am getting over my own plateau, but have you tried weights or eating more fruit and vegetables? I had a lot of success when I worked my way up to 5 cups a day (although it was hard).

And too, look at the bright side - not gaining back weight is as sure a sign of success as losing!

Things seemed to click better this week.

I am down 2.2, my current weight is 145.5. Honestly I didn't think I would ever see anything below 150 again! I am so glad we have this challenge. I am going to Cancun at the end of the week to all inclusive (aka dangerous) so I don't expect any loss next week, my goal is no gain...we'll see.

CW 170.5 Wow...I wasn't expecting that. 

I have notice my body has a 10 day grace period...LOL. I seem to drop weight every 10 days instead 5-7. My body doesn't seem to let it go and then takes about 10 days for anything to show up on teh scale- My Dr says that can be normal.

I about died when I fit into a size 10 and med tops :) This feels like a dream... I just never thought it would happen for me.  My goal is around 125ish give or take so i am still plugging along.

Hello all.  I am Leah and I am new here.  I would love to be part of this because I need a challenge someimtes to keep me on my toes!!!

 

My starting weight is : 192

My goal weight is 180.

 

I believe this is realistic because I normally drop about 3 pounds a week.  I know 2 pounds is healthy, but because I still have so much to lose, I tend to lose it faster.

Also, I sprained my ankle pretty bad playing tennis last night, so I won't be able to do any exercise requiring both my feet for the next 2-3 weeks.  This means my weight-loss is going to be based pretty much entirely on diet and therefore pretty slow and difficult.  :snail: I still wanna stay in the challenge, though.:smile: Just don't expect any weight-loss miracles out of me this month. lol

Sweet Kisses, don't let it get you down, I know it really stinks when you are trying to do everything right and then you get laid up. I am an avid walker but then I had some serious foot issue so I lost almost 2 years so I know how easy it is to get into a funk which is what I allowed myself to do and now I am paying for it so try and stay strong while you're laid up. I don't know if you have a gym membership but if so there are lots of machines that just work the upper body or at home you could do some free weights. I wish I had done something, I admit I did nothing which at least for me was a mistake. I am sorry to hear about your mishap, hope you're back to 100% soon. :cool:

Thanks so much for the encouragment and advice, Hiker.  Its really a big help.  And I'll be sure to work on the upper body and ab exercises at home (there isn't a gym around here:sad:)
Also, I think that as long as I'm careful, I can do some floor exersizes like leg lifts for my legs.  Which is good.:smile:

Hmm, looks like I'll be having maybe less and more?!

I was going to have 500 earlier, but it turned out to be only 100 earlier! I've only had 100 calories so far, and am just about to head out to my cousin's! Oh boy am I hungry! Yet, it was quite easy to just stick to 100. :yum:

Butttt, I just found out we're going to be staying over night!! That means DOUBLE the calories!! I'm going to be pigging out all today and tomorrow! :dizzy: :chewing:

CW: 153.4 (-.4)  Not what I expected when I thought I could trick my system after 2 wks of gluttony but scale says hydration/bloating has been off the charts for the past 2 days; I hit 152.8 a couple times this week.  Being in the negatives is going to be tough.

Hi there every one!

I did weigh-in on Friday but didn't have time to post it in here.

I'm glad to report that I've finally left my plateau.  I'm down to 179 pounds  , that's only .5 pound lost, but that's a lost!!! 

I'm in a group in my home town called Choosing to lose weight?  And we talk about all kinds of stuff.  We calculated our caloric needs for one day, and with my work, work-out and every day stuff, I need  almost 3000 calories so I don't lose or gain weight.  That's a lot.  And my needs just to live, if I stayed on my back without moving are 1600 calories.  No wonder those 1400 calories diet always failed, I was always starving myself.  I just need to reduce to 2500 calories and I'd be able to lose 1 pound per week.

The reason of my plateau is that since I've started my new job, I didn't have time to exercise.  Now that I'm used to my new job, and getting used to that new routine, I'm able to add a little exercise.  So that's why I left my plateau.

that feels good to be able to come in here and share stuff with people that lives the same things...

Hi, down 2 more lbs this week, my scale and the dr's scale actually matched, and my weight in his office was taken in the afternoon with clothes on.

Not a great week, I think last weekends trip is catching up with me. I figured I would have a payback week.

Down .2 my current weight is 144.8 it is very  unlikely I will hit my goal by next week:crying:. Oh well, I am still better off than I would have been without this challenge, it helps keep me on track.

Ok, I am not going to post my weight until tomorrow, with hopes that it will get better.

So, everyone pray for me, cause it's not going to be good, I have to make a whole bunch of bars today for the football players. If I stay out of them, it will be a miracle.

So today I weighed-in at 140 lbs. :nono:  That's a two pound gain this week.   I guess I'm not really surprised, though.  I really let myself go the past 7 days or so.  This week I'll try much, much harder.

All right, so for this week, I'm weighing in at 195 pounds. While I still haven't lost all that I gained, it's still going down, so I'm not complaining. ^_^; I need to just remember to keep exercising, and stay motivated, and I should be good.

Hello

Weighing in today and it's 121 for me this week :grin: - finally the scale budged! I did several things this week that really helped - I tracked all my food intake using the daily plate - I added about 10 minutes more to my cardio workouts and I changed up some of my food too - I usually eat the same thing for breakfast every single day but this week I tried eating cottage cheese and a granola bar - 100 calorie plus changed some of my other stuff too -tracking the food I think made the biggest diferrence because I really paid attention to how many calories each thing was and was careful with going overboard.  So it worked.

Well I didn't make my goal but I am down 1.5 lbs from last week, my current weight is 143.3

Although I didn't loose quite as much as I would have liked I know I lost more than I would have without this challenge. Crimson thanks so much for running this challenge, it must be a lot of work but I know it is appreciated.

If there is a Holiday challenge I would definately be in.:grin:

I weighed 116 lbs this morning but I don't want to report that weight for the challenge because I'm thinking it's just water weight and can't possibly stick.  I haven't been eating good enough lately to believe that's correct.  So, I'll say I'm still at 118 lbs.

Oh YES!!!!

According to my scale this morning, I have 46.2 pounds of fat.  So I didn't EXACTLY meet my goal of only having 46 pounds of fat, but that is darn close!  I take it as a success!!!!  WOO HOO!!!!

I am onto the next challenge.

Stats are updated. There are two tables - one sorted by percent of total body weight lost, and one by individual goals.

A huge congrats to all those who met their goals!!! :ribbon::ribbon::ribbon::ribbon::ribbon:

Together, we lost a grand total of 268.5 pounds!!!!!

Just imagine how much better our bodies are for the wear now! :smile:

I would also like to congratulate those who did not meet their goals, but stuck it through, anyway. We are certainly better people for it as well. Let us not dwell on the past, but rather learn from it, and focus on the future.

HI All,

My computer is working again.......yea!!!  I had some trouble and had to get it fixed and my work has firewalls and won't let me in, that is what I get for working at a government job.  You will all be happy to know that I came with in 1 lb of my goal.  My weight on 10/31/2008 was 249 lbs...........yeah

Sorry it is late, but, I am proud of myself.
