Sorry I'm a little late but I would like to join the challenge.

My starting weight (as of a week ago I haven't weighed myself this week yet). is 181

My Goal Weight is 170

My overall goal is to get down to 150 that is a good healthy weight for me. Though I am trying to focus less on the weight and more on how I feel and look.

So far since December I have lost 23lbs.

I will check back in with you guys on Friday.

Sorry I didn't post last week... I weighed in Thursday morning at 146.5. Not much of a loss, but a little at a time isn't bad.

Welcome Alethomas,

Great job keeping the weight off for almost one year. That has been the biggest challenge for me.

Good luck, maw32

Hey foco, it does stink at times. Any specific challenge we can help you with? I find that this site has a lot of people willing to help, all of us are going through this together. sometimes we need a pat on the back, sometimes a kick in the butt and sometimes just others to listen so let us know where your struggling (you don't have to be specific, just in general) and I am willing to bet you will get some great ideas.

Foco- You've been doing great! Atleast your results say so! Your goal is major and you're already a quarter of the way there, that's wonderful! I wish I could have lost 6 pounds by now... just keep it up, you'll get where you want.

Ok, today is my weigh in day. But, I am going to post it until tomorrow, in hopes that it will be a little better by then.

I had a major pig out and scale is showing it now. So, by tomorrow, some that should be gone. I hope, anyway....

ACK...sorry with a new puppy my www time has taken a back seat- I forgot to log in on Sunday.

My CW 176 not as much as I hoped but it's a loss still the same. I have also reached my 1/2 point in my total weight loss- a HUGE milestone for me. Four mths into this and I have dropped from a tight 20 to a nice 12. It is still hard for me to see a 51 pound weight loss when I look in the mirror. My friends and family can see but I can't seem to grasp the whole picture. I mean...duh, I can see it but I still have so much there that I need to loose so all I see is a slightly smaller me. I am just not sure when it will really hit me. Right now, I am at a point where I see skin not adjusting well to the loss and I am 35 so only time will tell if it will adjust. I might after all this still be looking into plastic surgery but at least I am much healthier.

and so the journey continues...

As sad as it is, for this week's weigh-in, I must remain at 196 pounds (I DID gain a pound earlier in the week, but all of my DDR-ing must have paid off, because it's gone, now ^_^;). I'm in my first year of college, though, and most people my age are currently going through the ridiculous "freshman fifteen". So, I'm not being TOO hard on myself for not losing...at least I'm not having a major gain! ^_^;

Congratulations to everyone who lost (and to those who didn't- like me- hang in there!)! ^_^

MattsJen, congrats on achieving that milestone! Kudos to you.

Wheo, I second the congrats to those who have not lost. As Peter has said before, it takes real character to stay in the challenge despite not seeing the results you want to see. Just remember, this is a lifetime journey. All of us are taking more positive steps toward our health, and that is what's important. The results will come - with time. Just keep pluggin' along!

Great job, all!

Ok, put me down for 124lbs. That's like a three pound gain for me....

But, that's what happens when you go off the deep end and eat everything your not suppose to. So, back on track......and trying to get that back down...

174 this morning.  Going down, but not where I was before.  Frustrated, but behaving.  It's inspirational to see how well many of you are doing.  Keep up the great work!

Good Morning

Weigh in at 180

No change.  I seem to be at a standstill.  But will keep plugging along.

Congrats to all of you who are doing so well.  It is a pleasure to see it, makes me think it is possible.

I didn't weigh in last week, and this week, well, no change yet.

I'll just weigh myself in the morning to make sure but I'm certain that the scale won't show any new numbers.  At least, I haven't gained!

Sorry I don't have any suggestions tamahat... but I'm right there with you! I always eat late at night (my last meal is usually around 10:00). I think for me it means I didn't eat enough during the day... could that be your case too?

Tamahat73 Usually to keep myself from eating late at night I brush my teeth around 9pm and that usually deters me from eating. Also I will make my own popsicles usuing orange or apple juice and that helps sometimes.

Tam, it is the toughest.  In addition to Alethomas' suggestion I try to be sure to have sugar-free Popsicles, dill pickles and greek style yogurt in the house. No I don't eat them together:shock: that would be a horrible mix, but that way I have as sweet option w/ the Popsicles, a salt option with the pickles and a creamy option with the yogurt. I only allow myself one of those items after supper depending on my craving and it seems to help me get past it. Of course you may not be getting enough calories in the day time. I try to split my calories into 5 small meals and space them somewhat evenly over the day. Good luck, it isn't easy I know.

Back down to 122lbs this morning.

I am sure that won't last since I had a binge yesterday. But, maybe with some extra exercise I can get it to stay there...

Hi Tam,

I know what you mean about the late night cravings.  I've often found that if I stay up late, long after dinner I get what I call my "second dinner wind".

Having something warm to drink at night, like a mug of decaf or herbal tea with a little milk and even splenda , if you have a sweet tooth can help.  Focusing on a project, homework or book also takes my mind off food.  I've started using meditation tapes to help me relax at night and drift off to sleep.

My suggestions are not the greatest but they sometimes help to distract me from thinking about food at night.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for all the great tips! I usually can stick to about 1500 calories all day long (and feel really proud of myself for it!) and then blow it impulsively, with an extra 400-600 calorie "binge", like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,  around bed time.  I think I have been just trying to deprive myself of after-dinner snacks, and it feels like punishment, so to make myself feel better I eat, when I've done so well all day!!! Maybe the better way is to allow myself one of the healthy choices that you suggested as a reward for doing so well all day...And just cutting a few calories out at lunch or breakfast to make up for it? And I will start to brush my teeth earlier as well. That sounds like a great detterent, huh?  After all , who ever heard of a peanut butter, jelly and peppermint toothpaste combo? Eww,  Yuck!!!  Again, thanks to all and good luck! Tam

Hello

I am back from vacation - so I weighed in and I have a 1 pound gain - not too bad considering that I went way off my schedule - hardly any working out but lots of walking around and not much snacking but eating 3 small meals a day - all in all it's a success for me.  I am at 123 today - so now I have to get back into the groove and back to working out and making wise food choices.

Weigh in day...and the grand total is...

******134.0 pounds*****

I'm a little nervous that it's a fluke, cause I've never lost 3 pounds in one week before, but I'll take it! Yay! Only 4 pounds to go to reach my goal for the challenge...I just might make it after all!
