F/X is a television station. I like a lot of their 'original series' shows.

Specifically: nip/tuck, Rescue Me, Dirt, The Riches, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The Sheild occasionally.

I watch anywhere from 1-3 hours of TV most nights.
I normally only watch TV at night. (aside from about 5 mins of news in the morning)

Well! Peter pointed me in the direction of this thread, so I thought I'd oblige. The way I write morbidlemon with no space often confuses people [I guess no one expects it to be morbid lemon?] Most commonly the misreading is Morbid Demon but never Morbidle Mom. *grin*

Anyway, Morbidlemon is the name of my website, which is basically a portfolio site for my illustration and photography [morbidlemon.co.uk or just click on my username if you're interested].

I've had the domain since I was fourteen, maybe even thirteen and I really don't remember exactly how it came about. I did a really daft drawing of a lemon with a straw in it, with a spaceship flying in the background around that time, but also a friend and me were being immature [as you are do at 14 ] and thinking of a 'war of the fruits' sort of thing. The lemons were the good guys. Uh, yeah... I guess I'm a bit of a lemon?

And morbid was basically stuck on the front because my art has always had a dark sort of edge to it, and my moods can be pretty dark too. But yeah, the name has stuck around, and I guess it's my studio alias these days.

Woah, long winded and probably pretty boring. But I was asked

I'll stick with morbidlemon for now, it's just a habit I've gotten into and I find it looks funny if I write it differently

That's a super cool name. I like it. I would say it was pretty but I am unsure if you are a guy or a girl as I have never heard of your name before and if you are a guy you might offended at having a pretty name.

So i will just say it is super cool

Welcome to :cph:!

Well this was a nice diversion from reality! It is interesting to see these things from others! Very cool.

Seminakedcats came along because a friend of mine is always calling my cats "bald" and "skinny". They are merely "short-haired" and "svelt"! One day, I  decided that they are just semi-naked. I haven't tried to put clothes on them, but they spend an unusual amount of time under covers.

The picture is me and recent. Naturally, I picked one that doesn't depict the pre-J-Lo butt (mine's bigger, hers is at the high-end of "acceptably big").

Kit:cat: is a combination of my last name, (and a nickname) and of course cat.

So I suspect you relate to Kit Kat candy bars?

I was handed one on the streets of NYC when they were first being introduced a LONG time ago so I always relate them to NYC. Now I'll think of you, too!

well, if i was trying to be poetic i'd say voodoodoll represents my love/hate relationship with food and how in the past i used food to hurt myself. thats probably true of my past relationship with food, but its not why i called myself voodoodoll.

when i was about 15 i was a foo fighters nut and signed up on their forum as foodoodoll ( i know *cringe*) and since then its just been modified! and thats it really. i normally go by queen of the #%@&!ed, but someone else on here has that name i think so there ya go

Shareing reasons for forum names, eh? Cool :D

Well, mine's pretty simple X3 Storms, specifically lightning, is my home element; I'm most comfortable when it's raining, thundering and lightning is flashing through the sky >D

So, I tend to sign up for forums under the name 'Storm' if it hasn't already been taken. I got lucky this time :3

Great graphic Storm!

And Voodoo, I saw the Googoo dolls recently in DC. Except for being the oldest person (aside from the friend who took me), and a venue with no seating, it was pretty good! They are a good band, but apparently, I'm just too old to blend into a place that I can't sit down and relax.

Happy Monday!

I think this thread is interesting even if it's dead, so I will announce that my username is Gauloises because Gauloises are my favourite brand of cigarettes, especially the reds ... and the blues ...

Living in the U.K. they're a rare brand to smoke and I know my friends associate me very much with Gauloises - it's also a rare user ID to have so it's my ID on most sites.

And my avatar is one of my favourite pieces of art from one of my favourite artists, Barbara Kruger. It's so simple but it's perfect and expresses (I think) a fundamental truth both about my own life and about society's attitude to the body and physicality and gender and health ...

Your body is a battleground.

The thread is dated, but resurfaces every now and again and will never expire! It's always interesting to know these things!

I've been a little remiss in my communication lately, but I like finding out that new folks have been joining up and participating in all the different kinds of forums we have available!

Now, where the heck were you when I was looking for someone to quit smoking with last month??? Okay, you didn't mention wanting to quit, but I really thought I was the only one on the whole forum who smoked!!! Well, I knew of a few, but no takers on the quit partner thing.

Good luck in all your endeavors! Thanks for the friendly post with info!

Cheers,

I think the Mud Man (CodeMonkey) has just started to quit - he started a thread -  but I think he fell of the wagon.  Maybe he can quit with you?

Sorry, I don't smoke - but I could try giving up changing poopy nappies (diapers) with you.  It's become a 3 or 4 a day habit:shock: and it's beginning to take over my life...........!!!

Yup, I fell off the wagon. I do plan on starting again. My original plan was to smoke my last cigarette the night before and then start the next day as a non-smoker with several hours experience (since I don't smoke in my sleep). Because my wife still smokes, I think I'll just hand her what I have left in my pack before going to bed. That way I don't have to finish this carton of smokes.

I may as well add to this thread. I've been a programmer and web developer for about ten years now. Oh wait, I'm on year #11. My bad. Anyway, the name Code Monkey is a derogatory name for programmers who have very little training or uses a simple language that anyone can learn with little difficulty. Honestly I don't consider myself a "Code Monkey" with that type of definition. I chose it because I like writing code. For a while there even on my free time I'd be home writing code for various applications and/or websites.

The nick name Mud Man is in reference to a hobby of mine. In my avatar is me driving my Jeep through the mud (if you look closely you can see my Jeep's headlights). Peter called me Mud-Man in my diary and it kinda stuck. I actually like that nickname and had seriously considered changing my username to it.

Good guess, Mud Man, but no.  My sign is the sign for "ohm".  My husband is a practising hindu -  he's fram Nepal (Brahman if anyone is intereseted).  I'm not really religious and I thinko f myself as spiritual, but not into any particular spirit religion or creed.  I just try to be a nice person, but I like the hindu idea of trying to leave the world a little better each day by being an all round good person (well I try).

So I decided that it was too much of an ego trip to use my real name as my username and Ohm would be a nice alternative.  I do wear a silver ohm (from India - oresent form my husband) so it seems appropriate.  Also the chant of the ohm is supposed to bring you to a realisation of your place in reality!!  Hmm!

Electronics wouldn't be for me - I'm all fingers and thumbs.  I work in academia.  I'm a psychologist - I have various degrees after my bachelors. I do research.  See?  Not so interesting, is it?

When you mentioned hindu I thought maybe the Ohm was what they say when they meditate (do they meditate?), and was going to suggest to change your username to "Oooooooohhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm......."

But then you mentioned you wear a silver ohm I realised it's an item and not a sound.

Obviously I have no clue about Hindu, or what an ohm is.

It's both actually.  See my avatar - that funny squiggly thing over on the left of the screen under my username?  Well that is how you write "ohm" in Hindi.  And it is called ohm because that is how you say it - just as you might wear an "M" for MudMan.

I'm not a practising anything in a spiritual-religious sense, but apparently you are supposed to chant ohm when you meditate - but there are other chants - allegedly.  I don't know much about it, but it pleases my husband that I wear it, and it is very attractive and a bit exotic - so why not?

I suppose I could have implied that it was chosen because I am a live wire, but I'm a bit old for all that these days.

I used my own name because I wouldn't have any other and that is who I am, Theresa.  Surnames come and go and I feel a woman is trapped by a surname whether it's her father's or husbands.  So I like to be know as me.  My little picture is because I share a fascination and enjoyment of most bugs with my kiddies.  It is also a female representation to me.  A Lady Bug.  Women Rule! (No I'm not really a feminist but I do find a lot of men mean )

Great topic! You're right, everyone does have really interesting usernames. Anyway here's the story behind 1seekspie:

I thought of this name last year when I was really upset. You see, the guy I had a super-huge crush on was flirting heavily with another girl. Pretty silly to get upset over that, correct? Well, I've always been the jealous type so I was very hurt and went home needing comfort. All I wanted to do was listen to music videos and eat junk food. There was, unfortunately, no junk food in the house and I couldn't listen to music videos (unless I got an account on the website I found, YouTube).

I was really hungry when signing up for the account. I seeked brownies...cupcakes....chocolate and decided it would be clever to put 1seeks something to reflect my mood. 1seekschocolate didn't really flow well...neither did 1seeksbrownines. 1seekscupcakes might have worked but I wanted something sweet and simple. Well, what's more sweet and simple than pie: Wipcream...filling...crust? Perfect! My username was born.

I continued to use it with many other websites just because I really liked it. Then I came here and the name accidentally became ironic. 1seekspie on a weightloss site?

Mine's somwhat boring as well.  Ribble is a river which starts in Yorkshire and enters the sea in Lancashire.  My family come from Yorkshire (althouh I was born in the South of the UK and  I have friends in Lancashire.  Given the (historical) dislike Yorkists n Lancastrians are supposed to have for each other and I can't choose between the two counties this seemed a way of combining the two counties.

Nah thats not boring   .....   more like sad for not being more imaginative.
