Well I can't afford to go to the gym so I was wondering what are some objects/items I could use for weight exercise at home?

There are plenty of strength training exercises that you can do without any weights at all, such as crunches, push ups, etc.

With money being a concern of yours, you could also invest in a set of resistance bands.

Good luck!

Yup resistance bands are good for the inner thighs. I like em.
You can also use bottles of mineral water filled with sand for dumbells.
You can go up and down the steps ... I do this!
You also buy a stability ball and use it in many many many ways.

Have you got any friends with exercise equiptment. I have so much stuff that I just loaned out my bike to a friend to use.

She gave me her ski machine to use in the mean time. To bad I haven't even touched it yet, lol. I am just to stuck on my walking.

I am not a big fan of the resistance bands, but I have not been doing them that long. I did get some 2.5 lb weights at the goodwill and I like them. I have to hold both of them in one hand, cause I should really be using 5lb weights.

So, whatever works for you.

Good Luck

You can sometimes find great deals on used equipment at yardsales.  I got a nice weight bench and more than enough free weight plates to suit my needs for a long time for next to nothing.

In the meantime you could focus on bodyweight training and just keep your eyes peeled for local bargains

I really want to be able to use the balls. I have tried at my gym, under the direction of a trainer, but I just can't get it right. I have practically no core stability, which I need to work on.

Most fitness equipment that you would expect to find in your local gym or fitness centre can now be purchased for home use depending upon the space you have available and the type of fitness equipment you require. Whatever type of home fitness equipment you choose, the most important thing to do is select something that you will find enjoyable, convenient, and easy to use.

I don't know if you have a YMCA near you but  they offer discounted even free memberships if you qualify, At least they have a gym if you do qualify.  I personally like my total gym at home but that was bought with my income tax money a few years ago. As for the cheap or free, try Freecycle.org and post a wanted maybe some one has some gym equipment that they are giving away.
