I do not like exercise, but I find when I get on my Gizelle, and watch tv (I'm good at that!) an hour goes by in a flash, and I'm sweating, legs tingling, feeling really good! I recomend it to anyone who hates to work out!:) AND I lost 25 lbs fairly easily!!!
(I'm a total space geek, and I find an hour of Farscape or Stargate on the gizelle is most enjoyable!! )

| I was hoping to see other people's comments on the gizelle. Do you have friends or family that have had success too?

| It sounds like a great idea! I'd love to watch tv while i'm working out but as it is i live on a college campus and have to attend a public gym. I bring a book. When i get my own place however, i'd love to try your idea!

Actually my friend has a Walmart brand of Gazelle, and she too finds it very rewarding. If you can get into a groove of doing it every day (or 5 or 6 days a week) for ONE hour, you'll definatly feel amazing (and who doesn't watch tv for an hour everyday!). And like the commercial says "it is 0 impact on your body". But you work your muscles and you sweat and it feels really good.

| I looked up the gazelle on the internet and they have three different ones according to quality. The walmart one is more in my price range but is it holding up good for your friend? Through other searches I've made practically evryone says to get the "elite" which is over $300, not exactly in my budget!!! Thanks!

I asked my friend your question, and she said her walmart gazelle is holding up A1! (and she has 4 kids who tend to play on it alot, and it has never broken!) It is just as sturdy as my Gazelle Freestyle.
The only thing I would do differently if I was buying a gazelle (walmart or Tony Littles!) now is, I would buy the one with the resistance "piston" type of things. It even says in the Walmart gazelle instructions that if you don't have the one with the resistance, when you look at the "calorie burning" digital readout thingy you have to subtract half of what it says. So if your readout says you just burned 800 calories, and you are on the regular gazelle, you must subract half...so you really only burned 400 cals instead of 800. But if you were on the one with resistance, the 800 would be right.:? Do you know what I mean? Actually my friend and I were just talking about how we could add resistance to our gazelles, and the only thing we could think of was getting some exercise resistance elastic and tying them to the poles at the front -the ones that move, and then tying the other end to the back poles that don't move, and there you go! Instant resistance!;)
I hope you end up getting a gazelle, I highly recomend it! And you honestly the Walmart one is just as good as Tony Littles. Good Luck!

Thanks Moya99 for your help! You are quite creative with that resistance thing. Just a few more questions. When I went to Walmart they actually have a "Tony Littles" edge machine which is about $95. Is this the one your friend has or has Walmart got it's own brand name machine which is a copy of the Tony Little machine? Actually, through Peter's message, I went to Walmart online and found all the machines except for the top dollar "elite" machine. Do you know if your friend got the cheapest machine or one of the others? Thanks for all your help Moya!!!:)

| My friend doesn't have a Tony Little machiene, but you know, I don't know what hers is called! I just tried to phone her to ask, but it's busy, but I'll try again soon and ask her what her's is exactly called. But I do know it is not an actual Tony Little........She's off the phone!!! Turnes out her gazelle says on the side : Gazelle Edge and on the very very top in very small letters it DOES say Tony Little. So I was wrong! $165.57 she paid in 2003. So if you saw one at 95 bucks! Grab it!!!! Hope this helps! :D

| I was thinking about getting the gazelle too, but no room yet, when my living room gets finished I'll deffinently have to look into them, they look like a lot of fun. And I'll make sure to get a resistance one too. does it tell you how many calories you've burned in a digital read-out, or maybe a manual?

Gizelles are awesome!
Gizelle and TV for exercising and relaxing simultaneously, and gizelle while listening to music for a harder workout ;) For me, that is.

I was considering a Gazelle until I read this on epinions. I use a Nordic Track Ski Machine, and figured the Gazell movement would be similar. Treadmills are easier to use, but they bore me to death. I walk most of the time, but I use the skier on bad days.

| I had a Tony Little Gazelle....I liked it at first, but it made my feet, ankles, and back hurt something awful! I switched to an Elliptical. I don't recomend the Gazelle for anyone who has back pain to begin with.

I have a Gazelle Edge, which is like...a very compact basic version of the Gazelle. It doesn't have resistance settings or anything, and this is the exact reason why I prefer the elliptical trainer at the gym over my Gazelle.
However, I like my Gazelle for when I'm watching TV or it's too cold outside to take a walk. It's good for some low-impact exercise.

I have a similar machine called the Glider XL, really big in the 90s. I think. At least, that's when my sister and mom went 50-50 to get one. Recently my sister let me have it and I was thinking what category this would be under on the calories burned page.
Here's a pic, if needed:

I won't be using the tension piston things for a while because my knees are banged up, but info for that is also helpful.

Thanks so much for this post, I am currently considering getting the Walmart brand and now I have made up my mind to get it. My friend recommended the gazelle to me and you know how that is........well works for her but will I like it and use it. My hubby is skeptical because we sold our expensive coat rack (tredmill) about 2 years ago.
He wanted it and I and said it will collect dust within 6 months, I was right on that one unfortunately. I really feel differently about the gazelle though, especially now that I have an ipod. I can dance like no other in my own mind and with it motivating me watch out!

I love my treadmill and use it everyday while watching tv. I've always wanted to try the Gizelle because it looks like it's better for your knees and very little impact. I don't know if I have enough room for it next to my large treadmill though in my tiny apartment.
