OK here is goes. I was talking to a individual on this forum and they said that they were getting ready to start a new diet called the 2468 diet. I would like to know if anyone has heard of it.
I did some research on this diet (on the Internet) and here is what I found out....the first day you start the diet you can only have 200 calories, the second day you can only have 400 calories, the third day you can only have 600 calories, and on your fourth day you can only have 800 calories. Then you just repeat back to the 200, 400, 600, and 800. It stated that it will help you loose weight fast.
Now here is my concern on this, I think that it is really really low. It is basically starving yourself for a couple of days. I think it is more realistic if it is 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, then repeat. I think I read somewhere that a women should have no less than 1200 calories a day(not sure the truth of it).
Please let me know what everyone thinks about this diet.

| yeah, that'd be great if you want to lose water and muscle....if you want to lose fat, you'd need to eat more!

| I think the same thing. I think the diet is kind of crazy and you may lose a lot of water fast but if you stop the diet you will gain it all back and prob really fast

| I think you would be safe doing 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, but only having 200 calories a day?!?! That's really bad for you! And to do that all the time! Sounds like starvation to me. I've heard people say they've had success changing what their calorie intake was daily, but don't go over-board with it. Sounds like recipe for a binge to me.

| What?! That's crazy! I've never heard of such a big bunch of bull squeeze! I did only 1000 calories for a long time and that was hard enough! What would you eat like a piece of bread and a cup of milk???

| Sounds like a good pattern, just not so durastic! But you could do something like this with carbs... 40,60,80,100 grams a day? Or just up the calories like some have already said. One could fit this diet to themselves too, ya know, base it off of their BMR.

I have heard of this diet but only by Pro-Ana groups (Pro Anorexia). They use it as a way to starve themselves but allowing them selves to have a little more each day to trick their bodies into not thinking they are in starvation mode.
That is what I have heard anyway.

As stated that will only lose you water and muscle. My thoughts on dieting are:
What will you be comfortable with? Take a look at your eating patters, where do you eat? In fast food restaurants? When do you eat? Late at night? How often do you eat? Do you have many lunch dates for work? Do you socialize with friends by going out to dinner?
What kinds of foods do you prefer (sweets, carb, protein, veggies, meats)?
Are you willing to substitute food for shakes, or supplements?
Do you like to exercise and are you willing to incorporate a plan of exercise into your daily routine?
Can you financially afford high cost diet plans, expensive foods and supplements, a gym membership?
What are the things that weaken you and cause you to fall victim to overeating?
Is your job such that it is hard to plan meals and bring prepared dishes with you- Do your cravings turn to headaches when you don't have the desired foods? Is your family on a diet with you or do you have to prepare meals for yourself separately when dieting? Consider these things and plan for them, working out fixes along the way. Diets the promise no inconvenient are a lie! Each diet plan requires some time and maintenance and will require a turn inform your normal way of life.
What are the things that you reward yourself for? What are the strong points of your personality when it comes to dieting and life in general? These things need to be used to your advantage. By emphasizing the things that you are good at, you may be able to lessen the stress and help get your body onto a healthier shape faster. Find things you are good at, is it jogging, walking, swimming, shopping for bargains, playing with your kids, cooking, working, etc, and reward yourself for excelling in those areas.
If you like to cook stick to a diet that allows home cooked meals. If you like to swim, find a diet that promotes activities such as swimming or other exercise, if you like shopping for bargains, feel good about a diet that requires lots of shopping.

| I've been on that diet - back when I was underweight. In fact, the only people I know who have ever been on this diet have had eating disorders, so I'm not sure who tipped you off to it but it's definitely not something you should participate in.
