Well ran about collecting books for a new book exchange I'm setting up. So that must count as exercise.
Had a busy day at work. Will go for a walk once my tea settles.
Had a good day food wise
oats
soup, egg sandwich, (1 slice of wholemeal) light yogurt.
egg noodles stir fry with pork
I'm so tired with the clocks going forward for spring.

Got up early today and walked and jogged for 20 mins.......
Had another busy day at work. Went to see friends gorgeous new baby...ah how sweet and magical.
Had to eat today
oats
tomato soup, 1 egg sandwich with salad
yogurt
salad
Managed to resist the most tempting cream cake, chocolate and biscuits!!!! It now more pleasing for me to feel good about saying no than having the things I know could put weight on me.
Daughter asked me to go to Weight Watchers with her as she's loosing motivation. Although I've got my eating under control and can zip up my dress, I do need to loose a bit more weight to feel 100% comfortable. So will go................
Not looking forward to getting weighed as I became a bit obsessive about jumping on the scales. If the needle was up I'd have a miserable day if I lost I would have a good one!!! I suppose I don't have to jump on the scales every day. I will control myself...that's what it's all about, self control.

Two post in one!!!!
Had bad day a work yesterday, budget cuts making it impossible to operate and lots and lots of other hassle going on. I do like my job though it's the best job ever just hate all the things that go with it. Everyone seems to be blaming the recession on everything here but I think cuts were on the cards no matter what and it's a political decision. Our current politicians in control of our services Liberal Democrats are not in the slightest bit interested in disadvantage, equality or poverty which will result in the most vulnerable getting poor services and cause the gap to widen even more than it already is. I'll keep doing my bit which is small but I had to years ago have a word with myself when I used to get down about the state of things. I decided to 'do my best' that keeps me sane and motivated.Got busy fortnight with work and Easter programme for children and families should be challenging and fun. I am looking forward to it.
Went to WW tonight and weighed in at 154lb I'll keep going till I feel comfortable in my dress. I'm not really bothered by weight just want to fit into my clothes so that's my main objective. I hate all the weighing part of loosing weight. It probably goes back to when I became a bit obsessive and manic about the my weight and scales!!!
I'd love one of those little weight measurement that others on this site have but I don't know how to do it (i'm not very computer lit) I learn on a need to know basis with the computer, if I don't use it I loose it. If anyone happens to read this and knows where and how I can get one I'd really appreciate it.
I went to Salsa last night, it was great......so much fun and laughter and it's quite a good work out too.
People beginning to notice my weight loss which is something!! Over the weeks people have commented how well I look or how good I look but I'm getting the 'have you lost weight' remarks. I have lost about 24lb already so I'm getting there........
I'll post my weight loss every Thursday (note the weight loss) now that's what I can optimistic, positive, confident...........well I'm the one that's doing it eh? If I don't loose it will be down to me and no one else.
I'm away to chill with my guitar.....oh...forgot to say, my son gave me the most fantastic CD for Mother's Day. It's a Scottish female singer called Eddi Reader, she's singing Robert Burns poems to life. I particularly like a song called Wild Mountainside. I've learnt it off by heart and now need to find the chords so I can learn to play it on guitar. Does anyone know where I can find the chords for that song?

Spent day shopping with husband. He's going on a Stag Weekend to Germany and bought a kilt outfit complete with sporran......so Scottish!!!! Well it might have been century's ago but is only used on special, formal or sporting occasions. When I was young visitors who came over to Scotland used to be surprised to see hardly any Scottish people wearing the kilt!!! They also used to think we should know exactly who their long lost relatives were!!!! Talking about kilts, I bought this amazing tartan corset.....it's gorgeous. Good thing is, I can dress it up or wear it with jeans.....when I do my first gig with my guitar I'll wear that.....(don't know when that will be!!) but a least I have an outfit.
I have been avoiding eating out until today. I had to eat
Oats
Baked Potato with tuna/mayo and salad
small slice of carot cake (it was on special offer if you spent so much on lunches and I got it for my husband and had just a tiny, little bit) self control was truly tested......
Fruit
Fruit and natural yogurt
The centre of Edinburgh is such a mess at the moment, we're getting a new tram system and the whole of Princes Street which is our main street in Edinburgh just below our beautiful castle.....is fenced off and dug up all the way along..... I remember saying to myself when they first started digging up the road. I wonder why they're not doing it in stages ie digging up, preparing the road then laying the track. They were digging the street up for miles without laying any track. It was such a mess and created havoc with the traffic diversions etc. I also wondered what the Council would do if the contractor demanded more money and refused to compete the work and leave it all dug up, causing more delays and traffic jams. Well that's what happened!!! Can you believe that!!! stopped working and refused to lay the track unless their demands for more money were met. The work stopped for over 2 weeks!!!! unbelievable.....or maybe not!!!
Going to treat my feet tonight......got some nice cream.

Had a bad day today. Probably a combination of pressures at work and the grief issues I've not dealt with yet. I lost my best ever friend suddenly two years ago, then a few months later my mum. Last October my brother-in-law died suddenly then my dad a few days before Christmas. Then my dog!!!! It's been a bit of a roller coaster emotionally. I've been driving past my dad's house as I can't seem to go in. Anyway today I decided to go as it's shortly going up for sale. Most of his things have been cleared, there are just a few odd's and ends ready for the charity shop. I found one of his jumpers hanging on a coat hanger......couldn't stop crying and hugging it.....no smell of him though just fabric softener. The house was empty but full of memories. I was so lucky to have him as my dad. I'm grateful for that but miss him so much. We used to debate and discuss any and everything. It also brought afresh memories of my mum, I realise I haven't really grieved for her as we were all supporting my dad. I miss their steady, reliable, uncomplicated, contented lives they lead. I don't miss their love as it's still with me in my heart no one and nothing can ever change or take that away.
My heart is heavy, tired and sore
as memories of them come to the fore
Their reliable, steady, contented ways
their love remains with me every day
Today had to eat
oats
chicken salad wraps
chocoltate biscuit
snack-a-jacks
yogurt and fruit
Need to increase fruit and veg.

Lami, I'm glad you started another diary. The last post of your first diary sounded so final. Have you started the biking yet? I too am having trouble sticking to an exercise routine. I wish someone would start an exercise challenge. (Hint)

Oh thank you Nancy, you are so kind and thoughtful. The reason I ended the first diary so abruptly was because I felt these pills were a waste of money and didn't want anyone to waste their money.
Ok Nancy, I'm up for a challenge!!! I've never done this before so how does it work? Let do it!!!!
I'm doing ok eat wise (I think)
Oats
Tomato soup, egg sandwich (2 slices of brown bread salad
light, low fat yogurt
3 jaffa cakes
Mixed Fruit (pineapple, apple, grapes)
I'm having great fun at work, (after last week it's feels light a weights been lifted) I've been busy planning all the activities for children and tomorrow a family trip to the beach to gather shells and anything else of interest!!!!
Next day we'll do an arts and craft session. I've got different shapes and sizes of boxes to glue the shells on to. It will make nice jewellery or nicknack boxes. I've also got little chocolate eggs, toy chicks with coloured paper that looks like straw.....so they can put them inside, a nice little Easter theme.
Let me know how the challenge works, what to do and where to start!!

Was at beach today and it was F R E E Z I N G..........brrrrrrr.....had arranged to take children and families to beach to collect shells today and an arts and craft session making jewellery boxes tomorrow. That was the plan.....the weather looked ok inland but when we got to the beach it was gales force winds and absolutely freezing. The kids had a great time collecting shells and stones not so sure about parents. Leasson learned never go to beach in Scotland until summer!!!!
Exercise walking along beach and gathering shells...jumping around to keep warm!!!!!
Had to eat
Oats
2 slices of wholemeal bread with extra light cheese spread
Fruit and natural yogurt
Oats (again) I couldn't be bothered cooking or eating salad!!
No Salsa tonight.......booo

Had a great week at work.....arts and craft session was a bit manic catering for babies, toddler, primary ages as well as adults. It took me all morning to wash/dry shells and set up all the activities and an hour to clear up when everyone left....glad it's a long weekend....I don't start back until Tuesday...that will give me a chance to recharge my batteries and start all over again!!!!
Went to WW and lost 2lb. Not long now until the Burlesque theme Hen Weekend!!! I've got a Moulin Rouge outfit which will probably do.
Had my hair cut and styled today, I always feel so good after having my hair done.
If weather stays fair I'll get my bike out and go for a cycle. I got one of those bike racks so I can take my bike to (flat) walkway at beach.

Hi Nancy, not sure where to reply to so will do it here.
What kind of exercise is best for strengthening and aerobics? My body will benefit from any kind of exercise.

In case anyone else is reading this, I'll stay here, cause it's awfully confusing otherwise.
Your Salsa dancing might be aerobic exercise, especially if it involves arm movement, anything that gets your heart pumping fast. By strengthening, without special equipment, I would assume things like leg lifts, crunches, pushups, weight lifting, old fashioned stuff like that.
I'm no expert on exercise, that's for sure, though I did do aerobics for 2 years long ago.

Let's set out a set of exercises that will enable us to meet our challenge to get moving.
I like aerobics and am willing to try crunches and old fashioned weight lifiting. I have some hand weights and those strap on weights.
What about doing an agreed time of aerobics, crunches, leg and arm exercises to get us started, we can increase this whenever we agree.....

Joined Nancy's Challenge today!!!
I dusted down treadmill and thought I could jog for 30mins!!! wishful thinking I ended up warming up gently with a slow walk for 5 mins, speeding up and then only managed to jog for about 15mins and walked for 20mins. I burned off 250 calories and managed 2.1miles.
So much for the jogging for 30mins!!! I'll need to gently ease myself into this as it's been about 6 months since I did any jogging.
I've been meaning to get started for months, I just don't know what was stopping me but it felt fantastic getting started, thanks for starting up this challenge Nancy.
Had to eat today
Oats
Baked potato and baked beans
ww Macaroni
strawberry's and natural yogurt
Sun was shining and I got into a white floaty skirt and white ruffle blouse, I have not had on for a few years. I don't know if it's the sun, fitting into my skirt or starting to exercise or a combination of all three but I felt really positive and happy all day.
Back to work tomorrow, still doing Easter Programme with Children & Families. Plan to do some jewellery making tomorrow and the boys if they don't want to do that, can glass paint, t-lights. There's lots of other activities going on during the session for them to dip in and out of.
Hectic but enjoyable and rewarding.

Managed to jog for 20 mins today I'm getting there!!! walked briskly for 10 and warmed up for 5mins. Added epilator (I'm not sure what it's called) and did 150 turns on that and 10 mins on vibrating machine (it wobbles flab around) Feeling a lot better now I've started exercising but really have to FORCE myself up to my treadmill each morning knowing I will feel better spurns me on. I also did some leg exercises and walked around Botanic Gardens about 2 miles. So I've made a start, it's maybe not the 30 mins jogging I had hoped for but it's a start.
Had to eat today
oats
soup, bread, bananna
egg sandwich
macaroni, cheese and tomato
fresh fruit and natural yogurt
Work going well these last two weeks with the Easter Programme. Invites out for wedding.... now I just need to loose a bit more weight to feel comfortable in my dress. That's me got everything I need for the wedding. Dress, jacket, hat, sandals, handbag, jewellery. Just to get nails, make up and hair done on the day!!! It's coming around so quick, I'm getting all excited. We've got the Hen Weekend in Belfast to go to in a few weeks. I've got a few adaptations for Burlesque theme. It should be fun.

Managed to complete my exercise goals again today. I have a real battle going on in my brain about exercising....negative thoughts to hamper my good intentions. I'm determined to keep going as long as I'm physically able. My brain can park for a while if it doesn't like it.
Easter Programme finished today.....I'm a happy tired, had a great 2 weeks working with children of all ages and parents/carers. Fab FUN......Going out tonight for a few drinks.....will take it easy as I'm working tomorrow and also got guitar lesson with grandsons.

Was out on the sauce last night.....good night.
Continuing with the 6 week fitness challenge and so far it's going really well.
Had trail hair done tonight bride, bridesmaids and me all different styles. Took my hat along to try it out with my hair curled.
Had to eat today
2 wheatabix
2 wheatabix (good for soaking up alcohol)
baked potato and cottage cheese/salad
Fresh fruit melon and grapes
Had to continually talk myself out of going for a McD's I had the most awful craving and desire for french fries and ice cream!!!! I know....anyway I kept telling myself how disappointed I'd be after it and thought about my MOB dress and how I need to loose a bit more weight for it to fit properly. That worked I came home and had the fresh fruit and it's sufficed my appetite. I don't know if exercising is making me want to eat more but I notice I'm hungry all the time since I started. I wonder if I should be eating more carbs?

Hi Lami,
I actually find that consuming carbs triggers a desire to eat more. I have had good success switching to more protein/less carbs in my diet and actually I am rarely ever hungry. I have largely quit eating fruit because the natural sugars (carbs) would make me want to eat and have a higher calorie content than veggies.
Great job beating the McD's craving!

Hi Lami. I saw your post in my journal. my lean proteins are: turkey, chicken breast, and fish. Halibut is so yum! There is a good recipe for scallops on that section of the site. I also eat eggs and bacon - for real - because the protein for breakfast really keeps me from getting hungry later in the day.
Here's what my typical food-day is like. I hope this isn't TMI but you sounded like you were looking for specifics:
Breakfast: 1 egg (some times I add a 2nd egg white), 1-2 strips bacon, dry wheat toast.
Lunch: 1/2 to 2/3 cup chicken salad (no bread!) plus items from the salad bar: grape tomatoes, pepper strips, kidney beans, chickpeas, and maybe an artichoke heart.
Dinner: Huge green salad (lettuce, grape tomatoes, red pepper strips, small amount of feta crumbles, light salad dressing). 5-6 ounces of some kind of meat (marinated chicken breast, meatloaf, Jennie-O Turkey burger patty) and 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes or rice or tortilla or bread (some carby side).
Hope this helps!! I generally am right around 1200 calories if I stick to this plan, and I do get a decent-sized dinner 600 cals or so of something yummy.

Thanks MM, that's really helpful, I don't know what I'm doing wrong as even although I've started exercising my weight is staying the same...need to move these stubborn lbs.
Had to eat today
oats
boiled egg and two slices of seeded bread
mushroom pasta
banana
Slept in so didn't have time to exercise this morning so will do it once my tea settles.
Busy day at work getting programme organised for this term. Lots of funding constraints though.
A colleague at work asked if I'd like to got out running/jogging with her. I've never ran outside before (well since I was a lass) and even then I hated it. I thanked her for for asking me but admitted I was terrified. She is a real fitness freak and persuaded me the benefits of running outside. So, I've agreed to give it a go. I'll be so self conscious, I need to get new jogging trousers and a decent bra (which I need to get anyway) One benefit of exercising indoors is it doesn't matter what you wear eh!
Got my two favorite boys coming for a guitar practice tonight.

That is so fantastic Lami! Way to go! I am a firm believer in the power of exercise to transform your body and your mind. Its self reinforcing, the more you do, the more you want to do it! Keep it up.

Thanks MM its good to know that people who've been there understand the feelings I'm experiencing. It's a challenge but it's getting easier each time I do it. When I started last week each time I thought about the treadmill it took me all my strength to get going. One week later almost 2 and I just can't believe how positive I am about it now. I do feel so much better after each session and I like challenging myself pushing for the extra minute. When I first start I feel invincible and think I'll try for the hour. That's my next goal to be able to run non stop for 1 hour!!!!! that will be some achievement.
Today had to eat
oats
tuna sandwich (2 slices of wholemeal bread)
2 packets of 3 jaffa cakes
homemade scotch broth soup
salad
Will run later on tonight!!!!
Did best ever again last night!!!

Did the best ever again last night just 1 minute more running and 1 minute more on cross trainer. These few minutes are getting more difficult but I know they're possible so I keep pushing myself.
Daughter went for dress fitting today and looked absolutely gorgeous, stunning (I know I'm biased) but she really did. Only 6 more weeks to go so I need to push myself to get those extra pounds off.
Had to eat today
oats
home made soup/roll (large one)
kit kat
Salad
will do exercise later on tonight after my tea settles down!!!
Got guitar with my grandboys tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouragement MM it's much appreciated.
Had a busy but really enjoyable day yesterday, My grandson had a BBQ for his birthday. It was great fun watching all the babies, toddlers and children at the different stages of development.
Did another PB on my treadmill 45mins running non stop!!! I'm surprising myself each time I push myself. Trying to get to 1 hour then I'll probably start upping the speed a little at a time to set new goals.
Had to eat
Oats
Hamburger Roll with coleslaw
Birthday cake (blg huge slice)

Thanks MM I've been to a Hen Week before where the theme was Moulin Rouge that was a fantastic experience. What a stir we caused in Cyprus both the locals and tourists wondered what had hit them they thought we were a professional dance troupe. The bride to be was in red and black and all the rest of us 24 dressed in black. It was some sight we felt like celebrities with everyone taking photographs and some even wanting photos taken with us. Fantastic experience. So, I let you know if Ireland is the same.
Today I did over 60 mins cardio and feel my body beginning to take a bit of shape. I no longer have a battle to go onto my treadmill. I now know I'll feel better after I've finished and that seems to be enough to get me there now.
Went to Salsa class and had a great time, it is a fun way to exercise.
Had to eat today
oats
weetabix with semi skimmed milk
egg sandwich (2 slices of wholemeal bread)
fresh fruit
hot chocolate (options low cal)
Joined Nir's Independence Day Inchallenge, I'm stuck weight wise and hope this will spur me on.

Not much to report......
Going to have to be stricter with veg intake and see if that helps shift the excess weight. Started a new challenge and I hope this will make me more diligent in my eating habits.
Weigh in on a Friday.
Exercise going well and my body is beginning to take a bit of shape which is making me feel good about myself.
Book exchange is a HUGE success............lots and lots of books donated and also lots of books being taken. Wow...I just love when things go well at work. Got training sessions to organise for Youth Workers and Management Committee. I enjoy planning and preparing these too. Completed funding applications for summer programme so hopefully it will be as successful as the Easter one.
Got new corset for burlesque theme Hen Weekend. Adapted an old skirt into a burlesque one. I already had feather boa, fishnet tights (not stockings) but lost one of my gloves and garter so I've ordered those on Ebay. Its amazing how loosing a bit of weight and exercising can make you feel more confident in your appearance. It's helped me regain a bit of my old self back. I was beginning to pile the weight on and wearing clothes that disguised it (or so I thought) until I saw some photo's......anyway New Challenge New Me.....Thanks to Nir and Nancy I hope to reach my goals. No I WILL reach my goals. Positive psychology coming through....

I agree with Mol, that is wonderful! You're making great progress on the endurance front.
I recommend you take time, too, to not only increase the duration, but the intensity as well - gradually, of course. I've found that alternating between shorter workouts with higher intensity and longer workouts with lower intensity really makes a difference. Walking is a wonderful exercise, both on the treadmill and off.
Also, kudos for dropping the Proactol! I'm sure that your body thanks you. With enough time and effort, we can all be healthy.
Best of luck, and remember to take the time on occasion to celebrate your achievements!

Thanks for the encouragement CA. I do plan to increase intensity when I feel ready (don't know when that might be) but I'm listening to my body and think because I've not exercised for many, many, many years it's telling me to take it slowly. I also know from experience if I go to fast too soon I'll end up giving up.
I've never ever been into running, I was always so self conscious so it's good to know I can go on the treadmill and no one can see me.
I'm already feeling better within myself and that's the most important thing as its from within that motivation etc comes.
I know what you mean about the Proactol, I'll put it down to experience and thankfully there were no (to my knowledge) any negative side effects. It's great to have control of my body, food and eating habits not some drug/pill. It's so important on the healthy eating and lifestyle changes that I take responsibility and control.
Well today I had to eat
oats
banana
salad, corn beef
fresh fruit and cream
homemade soup
exercised 30 mins running, 30 mins walking, 5 mins cross trainer.
