Web...sorry to hear about your after effects....time will take care of it.
Its kind of ironic how something can go well and then have complications.
I remember having a hemorrhoid after being pregnant that was worse than
the giving birth.......hang in there.

The sushi bar in Santa Monica was it Hama Sushi?  or the Sushi House(where
they only play Bob Marley)...I know just about all of them in this area so I am curious.

Web~I was thinking about what you said about watching the cooking shows...I use to watch those all the time...print out the recpies...I was getting to be a really good cook. I haven't cooked like that since I started this diet...and to be honest..I miss doing it. So, Sunday I made a pork roast (cheat weekend) and was a little sad when I wasn't as "sharp" in the kitchen like I use to be. just my 2 cents,

Sunshine - I don't have any frozen peas and I normally keep a bag in my freezer for such an ocassion!  But even if I did, I would not even THINK about putting peas there!  Yikes! As it is, it is so chilly and rainy here the last couple days, and I think this cold weather is making it worse!  LOL  Uggh... it's not funny but it is... I'll be fine.  Thanks!

Deanna - My sister is coming over to see me Thursday, so I will ask her if she remembers the name of the sushi place.  It has been a while, like I said, but for some reason I think it is somewhere not far from the Santa Monica mall (I think).  I know her and I used to go to the movies and we would stop for sushi right before.  When I moved to Los Angeles in 1990, she had already lived there for a while.  So she knew the area and I always went with her (in her vehicle).  For some reason I have it in my head that it may be by the mall... not sure.  I'll let you know.

Zeva - I took your advice and had tea.  It always makes me feel better.  I am so in love with the Utopian Jewel Oolong.  I am having that tonight again.  Tomorrow I am going to have the Sweet Oolong Revolution to decide which one I like best.  Teavana teas are like dessert! :yum: I love having a variety here, so I can have a different "dessert" every night!

I've been doing the BC this cycle, and love the flexibilty of it. It is amazing to eat veggies, and fruit.....but I have hit a real bad patch of depression (got my thyroid checked the other day, along with getting a new levothyroxine prescription) these last couple days. As much as I love the BC's choices, I'm still not quite sure how much to eat. I am eating very small portions, and find that sometimes I am very hungry, and other times I forget to eat. I'm trying to keep the portions consistant, so I'm not sure whats going on. I really miss having all the condiments. I want ketchup and salsa!!!! Beans and cheese just arent the same without taco bell salsa! I will see how I do at the end of the cycle...(only halfway through) and maybe if it's enough of a loss, I'll suffer through another BC cycle and then go back to the DG. If it's just ok, then DG for sure next cycle! Mmmmmm, frozen yogurt!!! I mean mmmmmm......cashews....I think that's all I can stomach right now.

My chest has been hurting all day....it seems like today has been one long panic attack. I have had no patience today, and between feeling like I want to crawl in a corner, and my heart feeling like it's going to jump out of my mouth....I really want to eat the yummy Entemans in the fridge....Has anyone cheated while on the BC? 1 meal...like a piece of cake instead of something else? I've tried a cup of tea, a cup of decaf with vanilla splenda....Think I'll just have a handfull of cashews for my last meal, and try to get some sleep.

Thanks for listening.....(whoever's listening...it's a slow day!)

Zeva~so sorry to hear about your day...:rose:. Glad you went to the doctor, tho. "Has anyone cheated on BC"..yep, i have had one  lindt dark choc truffle the past couple of days. I have it after lunch...more time to burn it off. I have lost 4 pounds in 4 days, so I am very happy with the results so far...I also like the food choice...i don't miss the condiments, i never really used them all that much. I, like you, will see next thurs. or friday if i will do this again...maybe every other...we'll see.

Hi Zeva - I'm listening.  I wish I could help in some way.  You hang in there!  Lately, thanks to you, I have been filling my cravings with some delicious tea.  I even added a dash of rice milk and honey to the Almond Biscotti tea last night.  I know it is not exactly the same, but it really does help.  I like the variety of teas I have, as I can have something new every night.  Tonight I had some Rooibos Rose Garden with honey and it was awesome.  Even though it is not the same as chocolate, or cake, or pie, with a dash of honey, it can do.  Have you tried the Haute Chocolate tea?  I was thinking of ordering that, as it sounds fabulus!  Also the Sweet Amore Rooiboos sounds good, too.  Have you tried anything new at Teavana?  I hope you feel better! Hugs!

Thanks guys, I woke up feeling a little better, while my DH woke up feeling worse....he has been without his arthritis injections for about a month due to a change in the distributor...and the insurance not accepting that particular company....anyway, he stayed home from work last night and is swollen really bad today. So much for Saturday. It will be fine...I'm sure.

Web, I always keep a cupboard full of tea....The chocolate is ok, I do really like the new cocoa mint one they have.....sweetened with milk, it's amazing. The Sweet Amore is nice and spicy...work really good mixed with the plum harvest...My 2 favorites right now are the Sour Cherry Seranade, and the Samurai Chai Mate.....I may make a trip today, my sour cherry is almost all gone....

Kitty, great job so far! I'm down 5.6 and feel like I'll finally be able to break through into the 180s...I'm 1 pound away....after that I can say goodbye to the 190s FOREVER!!!

Hugs to you all~Zeva

Zeva~glad to hear your feeling a little better today. Where does your dh have arthritis? I just got diagnosised with it in the base of both tumbs. I am going to see a specialist in April. Aleve works okay, but I don't want to have to take that every day. I am trying to break below 125 and I hope to in a couple of days...but then those nasty cheat days will start:pizza::cone:.
Hang in there kid....talk to you later.

Kitty, he pretty much has it everywhere. It's rheumatiod arthritis. His hands swell very badly to where he can berely close them. He also feels it pretty bad in his knees. How are things going with you? I havent had any trouble making the menu, it's eating everything! I do like the fact I can eat what I feel like...so if I dont want eggs and sausage, I can have cashews or peanuts.....I'm so glad we're doing so great so far! Thanks for the pep talk!

:heart::heart:Teppi, what wonderful news. Congratulations.:heart::heart: Babies are such a blessing....do you have any granddaughters, or is this your first? I'm so glad to hear both momma and baby are doing good....Yay! Thanks for sharing that with us!

I'm fighting this awful craving for chocolate cake...I dont know what it is with me and chocolate cake this cycle!!!! I told myself I was going to eat some today....I could taste it in my mouth I wanted it so bad! When my husband called at his lunch break a while ago, I told him I was going to eat it.....he was so cute and said....noooooo, dont do it...dont give in...you're so close. And he's right...I am. If I can just get through the next couple days, I'm sure to get down into the 180's like I have been dying to be. I told myself I've been stuck here for so long...I'm not getting lower than 190....why not just eat it? BECAUSE.......I dont want to wait to reach my goal...I want to be there now....I will do the diet the best I can, for as long as I need to reach that goal. I need to do this for me. I need to accomplish what I set out to do. Sorry for that....just needed to vent about my stupid craving! (oh, and I have tried some coffee with flavored splenda, and a few other things...extra protien...nothing is helping!) I'll survive!!!!

ZEVA....I feel your pain....reading about your cake craving
put me right there.  Last night I was at a board meeting and
everyone was having brownies and banana cake while I just
had a few grapes(it was fruit day)....I almost felt resentful that
I was born with a blue print to gain weight while others stayed
skinny no matter what they ate.

I remain stuck at 140(about a 15 lb loss) and would so much like
to  be 130....but I know that its so up to me....a cheat here and there and a few too many nights out on the town has put me here....and yet I know in my heart that getting on top of this is more of a challenge than going to college was or passing this horrible series 7 stock broker test (an 8 hr nightmare)....Its
as if one would go through a metamorphosis and become someone who is no longer defined by food.   Its a way of becoming powerful and that feeling ultimately will prevail.  I have been painting women's faces with the bodies of insects(I am a wild and wacky artist) and people always tell me how avant-garde I am and out of the box...etc.....so why not go all
the way and be the most powerful version of ourselves.....You can do it and so can I and what a height it will be.  I am picking up the exercise more(yoga, aerobics and speed
walking everyday)....remember everyday is a new beginning....

Sunshine...passed the series 7, 13 yrs ago and I understand its worse now...I still have all my licenses and have a few clients but I am happy to be out of that biz after 30 years of 24/7 and all the worrying I did and losing sleep(and big lunches with
other brokers and clients)....now I am somewhat free...thanks for your comments

Deanna, I have been doing real well not cheating...it's just the thought always in the back of my head....why am I working so hard when I'm not going anywhere? Then I have to remind myself, I will get through it...just a little longer, and I'm bound to break out. I feel good where I'm at right now, but cant wait to see where the extra 10 pounds puts me! We can do it, thanks for the kind words!

Web, The sunglasses....oh the sunglasses! I got bad news about that last time I went to Costco...I checked to make sure they still had them, and they were sold out!!! They got in more of the same brand, but different frames, and they were ugly and not what I wanted.....I sat there in front of the case, and almost started to cry! They arent anything special....don't know if you've ever heard of Ed Hardy....but they are twice as expensive at Nordstroms. So, because I didn't either just buy them then, and put them away until I got to my goal, or lose 5 pounds in 2 days...I missed out! Ah, the great thing about Costco...you snooze, you loose. I will have to find something else now, I will get there by next cycle, so I still have time.

Deanna - I loved your words... very inspiring... "be the most powerful version of ourselves"!  Oh, and I would love to be a dragonfly!  Ever since I was a little girl, I have been in love with dragonflies.  It would be so hot in the summertime, and they would fall dead in my driveway.  I would take their beautiful bodies with their translucent colorful wings, and place them on cotton backing and frame them.  I have collected dragonflies for quite some time (not real ones anymore), and everytime I see one I still get excited!  There don't seem to be as many these days... at least not like there used to be when I was growing up.  I think they are so beautiful and mystical.  Even their name intrigues me!

Zeva - Oh, I am so sorry about the sunglasses! :crying: I am very familiar with Ed Hardy and love his designs.  I had not seen the sunglasses, though.  Were they colorful and have the tattoo-like designs on the frames?  I am trying to imagine what they look like.  I had thought last night about starting a thread with goals... sort of like our weight loss per cycle thread.  But then I thought maybe that would be something that should go under the "sucess stories" thread, and I didn't want to make things redundant.  I just thought that it would be fun and maybe inspire people to try to reach their goal even faster (i.e. help to wish those "chocolate: thoughts away), once it was down in black and white.  I know you will get there very soon!

I have realized how much harder it is to "be good" while maintaining when I am not on a schedule at work everyday.  Since I have been home these last 3 weeks, I get so bored (only because I still cannot do much physically) and so food becomes a "filler" (time and tummy... lol).  I am still at my ending weight and go up and down 2 lbs. every few days, but my midsection is thicker, and my pants are fitting a bit tighter.  I really need to do something before this gets out of hand.  Now that my bust area is much smaller than before, you will be able to see my tummy more!  So I cannot gain any weight as I will surely show more than before.  Besides, now that I am smaller on top, I look smaller all over!  That is what people are commenting that have seen me since the surgery.  I am in proportion (finally), and I would like to keep it that way!

Web, there are a lot of designs if you look online....they are huge framed sunglasses, with the tatoo designs on the side arms decorated with rinestones...they are so cool! Oh well, someday....I just need to find something else similar to get for my prize! I bet you look amazing.....cant wait to see some new pictures of you! Like I said before, let your body heal first, then start a cycle......Dr. Zeva says so! Now, it's freezing here, so I'm going to go have a cup of tea!

WEB, Yeaaa!!! It's a girl!! And, I keep thinking of you 'cause the HGTV Dream Home giveaway is this weekend!  I have entered too but have not noticed any satellite trucks in the area (and I probably would in my small & remote town), so I wish you more good luck.  You know these things come in threes.  First, for you, sucessful surgery, second, a girl to complement all the fellas, and third maybe the HGTV Dream Home.  Would you let me visit California for the first time by visiting your home.  If I, by some miracle, I win the Dream Home, maybe you would consider being our caretaker.  Oh well, best of luck, to both of us.  And major congrats on comming through the surgery like the trooper I know you to be.

Have been laying low because of slow lossed while doing the BC.  However I am on Day 5 and looks like I will get a full cycle in so ????????????  We'll see.

Love to all you losers, :clover: Believe

Don't forget to wear your green next Tues. (for me please and thanks)

Amjacie - I am going to start saving up tea party stuff so when she turns 2 we can have our first tea party!!!  It is going to be fancy and we are going to dress up and be frilly and sparkly.... a total girlie tea party!  I want to cry right now, I am so happy.  I was hoping for this so badly, and now it is really going to happen.  It's a dream :rainbow:come true! My grandmother got me my first china tea set and I have never forgotten it.  It is such a special memory. She is going to be spoiled (in a good way).

Believe - Thanks!  I was so happy to see your post!  I have been thinking about you and hoping everything has been going well.  If I win that dream home, YOU are absolutely invited, along with everyone else on here.  We will have one big party there!  If you win, I will gladly come there and help you in whatever capacity I can.  If we don't win, we could still meet one day, and go out and check out the property, and go on a wine and cheese tour in Napa/Sonoma.  How's that for a plan?

Sunshine -  I am going to start planning her room decor... hehehe.  Purple will be a BIG influence! lol

Congratulations Web - that's great news.  I remember when I had my first baby and I really wanted a boy (mainly because I am an oldest girl and would have killed for an older brother) and a volunteer doing teas in the hospital asked what I had and said "Oh, you lucky thing, you've got your girl!" and she was SO right!  How wonderful for you all.  I got my boy next and love him till I'd squash him, but I do feel a bit sorry for friends who only have boys.

On the FL4I front, I am bearing out what Web always says this cycle - I lost 2lbs, gained 2lbs, lost 1lb BUT my belt has gone in a notch and my jeans feel MUCH looser - so there must be something happening that's not showing on the scales.  I definitely feel slimmer -

Onwards and downwards!

Web, oh yes, tea parties are the best! My mother did the same thing and bought Gracie(my 6yr old) her own real tea party set. We love to dress up for tea parties! And speaking of the decor, I did violet walls with a purple Pooh border when she was a baby. Oh, you're going to have such fun! I think it's great that you get to help choose the name.

Believe, I will definetely be wearing green on Saint Paddy's day! I run my parents bar and grill and will be serving green beer all night. Funny story about that. My mom went a little overboard on the dye in someone's mug last year. it was a verrry green mug of beer and the man had a snow white mustashe. I was trying not to laugh because he had a green mustache when he left, and he didn't realize it. I later heard that he went home and wasn't going to tell his wife he went and had a beer...haha...busted! I could have warned him but he's an ornery old man anyway so it was much more fun to just laugh! I'm so bad!!

Go Tiger Woods!! I'm a huge fan and he's playing today! Woohoo!

Just thought I'd pop in and wish everyone a nice day, a little umph to get you through the day!  Just finished up a chicken breast and glass of milk and CAN'T WAIT for my fruit smoothie (a/k/a fruit salad) tonight!  YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Maybe, today is the perfect day for a little dreamin', huh?  And so it goes, another...

STORY O' THE DAY

Never Give Up

In that dark lonesome place
between a dream dreamed
and a dream realized,

I have left a little light for you
so you will know that someone cares
and believes in your dream.

Just where it becomes the most dark
and difficult to find your way,
there is the light I left for you.

It will light your way,
through the doubt, the confusion,
and the fears,

It will stay with you
all the way to the realization
of your dream.

And when your dream has come true,
please go back to that darkest place
where you have been,

And set the little light there to give heart
to the next sweet soul that braves the path
to his or her dreams.

Dreamers are the architects of greatness.
There wisdom lies within their souls.
Dream long enough and hard enough
and your dream can be attained.

Y'ALL ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DREAMIN' WEEKEND!

LOVE YA'
ANN

A friend sent me this yesterday - and I know we all get them from time to time - but they always make me think a bit - so I've posted it as a Sunday morning thought!

A friend of mine opened his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package: 'This,’he said ‘isn't any ordinary package.'

He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.  'She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on - was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it.’

He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house - his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:

'Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion'.

I still think those words changed my life. Now I read more and clean less.  I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.  I spend more time with my family and less at work.  I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through.  I no longer keep anything.  I use crystal glasses every day.  I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.   I don't save my special perfume for special occasions, I use it whenever I want to.  The words 'Someday...' and 'One Day...' are fading away from my dictionary.  If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now…

Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

xx Purrsia

PS.  I'm determined that I will be WEARING whatever's in that box, not sticking it in a drawer!

Purrsia...WOW...loved it!  I personally have been practicing this after cleaning out a neighbors home full of unused "good dishes and crystal"...she ate on plastic ware...I never even knew she had good dishes...and I mean GOOD...they were a complete set of the finest china and crystal money can buy anywhere!  Her drawers were full of beautiful and expensive clothing and jewelry but I only saw her wear shabby things...we found out she had it all...but just never enjoyed it....she was saving it for "good" but I guess "good" never came.  I was younger when this happened but it changed me...I've been using the "good" stuff daily since...and lighting candles....my kids grew up with table candles and "full settings"(on many nights) and now their friends think they are weird putting out the "good stuff" in their homes..heehee

Thank you Purrsia for the beautiful reminder to NOT PUT OFF LIVING OR GIVING! Or telling someone we love them.

Hugs to you:rose:

Sunshine....so agree with you...I turned a corner once on that myself and use cloth napkins even for just the two of us everyday....and only use paper plates for a huge crowd....most of us have dish washers and washing machines so why not?

Me too!  Napkin rings, napkins, candles, the works - always!   And one of the biggest sadnesses in the UK, and I'm guessing the US too, is that families don't sit down together to eat any more.   A lot of people don't even have a table they can sit round.   We do - whenever we can.  In fact, we've just finished Sunday lunch with two of our children a little while ago (with napkins and candles, even at lunchtime!, and Mum sitting there with two slices of roast beef on an otherwise empty plate while everyone else launched into Yorkshire Pud, roast tatties, carrots, broccoli, Jerusalem artichokes and CHOCOLATE SPONGE WITH CHOCOLATE SAUCE!!!!  :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:).

Purrsia - I have read that before and it means a lot to me, as well.  That is EXACTLY how I believe.  And I have made that clear to my children so they understand how important that is.  Some people think I overdo things a little, but I want to enjoy life everyday, all of the beauty I can find in it, which includes the nicest and prettiest "stuff" that I have, to be a part of my days.  In my bathroom I have a small chandelier and I have it decorated with a parisienne theme.  It's just a silly little, small bathroom, but it is decorated with perfume, and stuff about as much as it can be.  It is fancy and beautiful and everyone says "Doesn't it take you forever to dust?" Well, the answer is "No, not forever, but it does take about an hour once a week.  Who cares?  I have the other 167 hours per week where it is just looking beautiful and I can enjoy it! I have a drawer of candles that I replace as they get low, and I burn candles almost every night.  I only use my nice dishes, as that is all I have.  And every time I have a glass of wine, I drink it out of a fancy antique wine glass with beautiful Victorian design carvings.  Sure I have a nice set of others, but this one makes me feel like I am a princess drinking out of it. If it breaks, sure I will be sad... but I will find another one just as pretty on Ebay or at a garage sale or wherever.  Beauty is everywhere!  I think it is a crime to pack beauty away.  It is meant to be enjoyed!  Life is meant to be enjoyed.  So live... love... enjoy life, before it is gone.

Deanna - I have been a purple lover since I was a kid.  My grandmother used to tell me that I loved purple because it meant royalty (and you know the story..).  I love Violet, and it is my BF's mom's name.  Violet Magdelena... isn't that pretty?  But my daughter agreed to do the baby's room in lavenders, and purple shades (maybe some green, too), but no purple names.  Shucks!

Last night, after going through hundreds of names, Tirzah thought of a name for the baby that she liked, and called me to see what I thought.  I love it (I just changed the spelling and she likes it even more now).  So the baby is going to be named Lilah!  Isn't that cute? Yay! (oh.. if you change the last letter to a "c" she will be Lilac... so close to a purple name... hehehe) So we have a name for my new granddaughter!  Don Henley even has a song called "Lilah" that I downloaded last night. It is a beautiful song!  I am so excited.

Lilah... Lilah...Lilah... Lilah...Lilah... Lilah...Lilah... Lilah...Lilah... Lilah...Lilah... Lilah...

Sunshine - Tirzah is a Hebrew name, found in the Bible, and means "delightfulness and pleasantness".  And that is what she was growing up.  If there were ever a perfect child, she was that child.  She was always a very happy child.  She was the cutest, sweetest thing and I never had any trouble with her (until she was in her late teens and even then, only one time).  I was so lucky to have her.  My oldest daughter was 5 years older than her, and my youngest was 3 years younger than Tirzah, and he was an extreme case of ADHD, as I have told you.   He took a lot of my time!  I remember one time I came into her room when I lived in Los Angeles and all three kids had their own rooms.  Tirzah was sitting on the floor with two transformers from some games she had... one in each hand saying (from one to the other) "Hi, I am a plug.... Hi, I am a plug, too!".  I laughed so hard I startled her.  She was such a doll, and she could find anything to amuse herself.  She is 24 years old now and I don't know where all the time went!  My oldest is 29 now!  I don't even feel old enough to have kids that old!

I love the name Lilah!! Beautiful!!!

And you ladies have given me food for thought. I have the nice china in the hutch. I have every day dishes in the cabinet, but use plastic plates all the time. All my nice stuff stays in the hutch rarely used. Since I moved, I have no dishwasher so it's been easier to wash the plastic dishes to drain. But I think it's time to use the nice stuff or buy a new set of pretty everyday dishes and glasses. It's so time for a new set!

Amjacie...glad to have you join our "movement" of taking the good things out of the cupboard and hutch and actually using them!!!

I think good china and special things get passed down to another generation...not because it was cherished but because it was just never put to use and so the next generation puts it into their cupboard too and the next...then someone inherits it who hates it and puts it into a rummage sale!!
There is a place for having special things just for celebrating special occasions...but how wonderful to consider our own family and ourselves worth celebrating on a regular basis!
