I agree with Deanna.  He looks like a beautiful girl.  He is gorgeous and talented, but not sure that was a wise business move, as it may limit his sales.  I think he should have done a cool rocker cover with a touch of beautiful.

Sunshine, the two of the Teavana Mates... the Mate Vana and Samarai Chai Mate.  The Samaria Chai is kick butt... delicious!  But it has too much caffeine for me, since I am sooooo caffeine sensitive.  However, I have to say, that these teas did NOT give me the jitters at all. I did, though, get a headache from it.  I would suggest trying the Mate Vana (or whatever strikes your fancy ).  So if you aren't THAT caffeine sensitive, it is a wonderful replacement for coffee without the jitters.

Okay, so here we are...another day...another new loser...more than yesterday...not as many as tomorrow, right?  Some of you know where I'm going with this; some waiting as if a child waiting for Christmas morning?  I doubt that, but some of us sit, waiting in anticipation of something that may change yesterday, may change something about today that might make tomorrow different.  And where better to start than...

Beginning Today
By: Author Unknown
[Yes, the STORY O' THE DAY]

Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday.
It is in the past and the past will never change.
Only I can change by choosing to do so.

Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow.
Tomorrow will always be there, waiting for me to make the most of it.
But I cannot make the most of tomorrow without first
making the most of today.

Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will see a person worthy
of my respect and admiration.
This capable person looking back at me is someone I enjoy spending time
with and someone I would like to get to know better.

Beginning today I will cherish each moment of my life.
I value this gift bestowed upon me in this world and I will unselfishly
share this gift with others.
I will use this gift to enhance the lives of others.

Beginning today I will take a moment to step off the beaten path and to
revel in the mysteries I encounter.
I will face challenges with courage and determination.
I will overcome what barriers there may be which hinder my quest for
growth and self-improvement.

Beginning today I will take life one day at a time, one step at a time.
Discouragement will not be allowed to taint my positive self-image,
my desire to succeed or my capacity to love.

Beginning today I walk with renewed faith in human kindness.
Regardless of what has gone before, I believe there is hope
for a brighter and better future.

Beginning today I will open my mind and my heart.
I will welcome new experiences. I will meet new people.
I will not expect perfection from myself nor anyone else: perfection does not exist in an imperfect world.
But I will applaud the attempt to overcome human foibles.

Beginning today I am responsible for my own happiness and I will do
things that make me happy . . .
admire the beautiful wonders of nature, listen to my favorite music,
pet a kitten or a puppy, soak in a bubble bath . . .
pleasure can be found in the most simple of gestures.

Beginning today I will learn something new; I will try something
different; I will savor all the various flavors life has to offer.
I will change what I can and the rest I will let go.
I will strive to become the best me I can possibly be.

Beginning today. And every day.

Am I right?  A friend of mine once said, "You can't quit.  You can only fail and that's great, because if you fail, you can just start over again.  And you can start over every day until you are happy with the results.  So don't quit.  Just keep failing."  That's what we do here.  Fail and fail and fail.  Isn't that wonderful?  We are just a bunch of failing losers!  LOL!  We are the best of the best!  Just keep on "Beginning today.  And every day."

Love ya'
Ann (a good laugh)

Here's my non-fat chat for today!

Saturday I decided to go for some red highlights in my blond, blond, blond hair.  My hair dresser and I thought it would be pretty. Once we took the foils out and washed my hair we noticed... this ain't red!!!  My hair was plumb purple.. OUCH!  No big deal, we decided to cover it up with light brown all over my hair and that did NOT work!!  Then we got the bright idea to bleach the red-purple out! To my astonishment, my hair turned HOT pink!  You'ld think bleach would strip out all the color! WRONG!!!  by this point my hairdresser was freaking out and I was laughing non-stop in disbelif.  She took out the burben and poured us a drink (my 1st time trying it).... Once we calmed down we colored it a dark dark dark brown and prayed that my hair would not fall out! That seemed to do the trick but now NOBODY recognizes me.. haha!  I've never had such dark hair before and it still shocks me when I look in a mirror!   I'm just happy to have hair still, even though it's rough and coarse and not shinny and silky like it has been my WHOLE life ;)

I just felt like sharing my crazy hair story. I'm typically a person who likes to play it safe and not do anything to drastic... OPPS!

Jodice- that is HYSTERICAL!  Listen, I can sympathize with you.  First of all though, I have to ask- is your hair natural blonde or were you coloring it or bleaching it blonde?

Jodice - I can totally relate!  I don't know if you read... back a little before you joined... what I did to my hair (I think the end of September).  I think the picture is still up on this thread.  But I was going for purple and it turned out hot pink.  I just dyed it brown again and it still has pink highlights.  My hairdresser said it takes about 3 months for the pink color to totally get out.  SO meanwhile I am just waiting until Christmas so I can put blonde streaks back in my dark hair.  Ugggh!  I get bored easily and like changes, but this time I went a little overboard, I think.  But it's all in fun, and the good thing is that if we don't like it, we can change it (and hopefully, like you said, our hair won't fallout!).

Jodice...what a story!....In July I was in Katmandu after 2 months of travel and I had white, grey and brown roots coming
out of my reddish brown hair....It looked confusing...so I told them to dye it alburn...their English was not so hot so it was translated to fire engine red....My husband laughed and said
"far-out"...I was not amused......the trip continued onto Europe and by the time I left Portugal it had turned blond.  Crazy thing
is that I seem to be getting all this attention over it...Men half
my age ask me to coffee...seems like a combination of less weight and blond hair is having an effect......I told this guy at
the open market who asked me to lunch that I was old enough
to be his grandmother so, was he looking for a mother or did he
think I was rich?...he said both.  Someone told me that when you
are blond people expect less from you...could it be that I am now
perceived as a bimbo and therefore more approachable?  I am contemplating making it ash brown with tons of blond streaks
as a compromise.   And Web I had purple hair once but it didn't
go with enough of what I wore and it turned orange after a while.

Deanna...what a crazy funny story!!! Nice to see you by the way!

I thought I was the only one with a PURPLE HAIR STORY and now I am beginning to think that all women who have colored their hair have had this happen...could it be?

In college I knew a girl who regularly bleached her hair almost white blonde.  One day she left the bleach on too long while she was studying or on the phone and by the time she realized what time it was...her hair had softened and expanded and looked like spaghetti noodles(for real!!) and she got into the shower and all her hair came off:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock: at the roots.  She had to wear hats or scarves until she has a "Twiggy length"!!!  That is the very worse hair color story I have ever personally seen!

Deanna - Hi there! It is the opposite with me as I have lots of purple & black clothing, so it really went with my wardrobe! hehehe  But because it was bleached underneath, it fades and my hair gets reddish and reddish blondish shades the more I wash it.  Funny about the guys and blondes.  I don't know what is with that, but I have always loved having darker shades of hair, and my sister is blonde.  I think they may get more attention, but it doesn't bother me one bit.  I wouldn't want a shallow guy anyways. Blondes get a bad rap (although I do know several that fit the mold! hehehe)

Deanna... that was a good story :)  I've only been a brunette for 5 days so far but I can tell a difference.. Men no longer stare or try to hit on me (which is good, b/c that includes the nasty, dirty, perverted type men too)  But I notice even the good attention is gone.. For example, I went to 7-11 this morning and it was POURING rain so was running through the parking lot to get to the front door... I was almost there and this man stepped out infront of me, looked at me and slowly opened the door for HIMSELF, not even holding it open for me after he walked in... He saw me running through the rain to get inside... selfish meany-head!!!

I can't wait to be back to my natural self ;) In 2-3 months!!

Webfairy, I saw those pics.... that was great! I so wish I had my camera that day

Hi Jodice...just note that the same people that treat you poorly as a brunette are the ones that faun over you as a blond.....perhaps that attention and seeming politeness that you miss is not as "nice" a thing as it seems.  Remember that when are back to your natural state again and you find them holding the door for you but not the dark haired  or gray haired woman behind you...because those ladies that get snubbed may be US!!:tongue::shock:

Speaking of babies... Lilah got her Christmas picture done the other day and I went online and uploaded it and had it made into postage stamps to put on my Christmas cards this year! They are actual postage stamps, approved by the United States Postal Service.  They are so cute!  I put "Lilah's 1st Christmas" on the bottom of the stamp.  I can't wait to get them!  What a special memory. I texted my daughter to tell her what I did, and she texted me back "Oh mom, you are over the top!".  Yes I am... about my Lilah! I will have to save one for her baby book.  When they come I will take a picture and show you all.  I have this picture as my desktop background at work and at home, as well as a copy on my desk.  I still can't get enough of that sweet little angel.  =)

To all my tea buddies...OMG!!! my dh and i were walking around an outside mall near my home last night, because it was probably going to be the last nice night before the winter chill sets in for good. so as we were walking along i smelled something brewing in the air...and to my SUPRISE there was a teavena store sampling tea for the customers...they just opened 3 weeks ago. now i won't have to go online anymore. but what i need to find out (if any of you know) are the prices the same at the store than online??? I am so excited about this!!!

Putting the tree up today, so gotta run, just couldn't wait to share the news with my tea buddies....

Hi Kitty! Nice to see you!  The Teavana stores are the same price as online, but you save on shipping, of course.  The only thing you have to watch out for is the stores don't measure exactly 2 oz or however many ounces you request.  So they get you for more money that way. You have to specifically state 2 Oz. ONLY or they will give you between 2 and 3 ounces.  It's not so bad if you only get one or two teas, but it adds up, especially if you order the more expensive teas ($10+).  I have easily spent an extra $20 on the "overage". Also, the stores are fun as you get to sample teas. :coffee: Enjoy!

I am just new to this diet, but I am doing a cycle right now.  It's tough during Christmas!

It's really quiet in here, I bet everyone is very busy.

Hi Deanna!  I am definitely doing a FULL cycle or two after the holidays. I gained, so I have been following the DG loosely and lost a little, and I am maintaining at the moment. But I still have more to lose.  I am hoping I will lose at least another pound before Christmas.  I have to say, I am proud of myself. I made treats and baked all weekend, and I only nibbled a couple things, and that was it.  I made Shortbread, which is one of my favorite cookies, and I only had 1 tiny shortbread cookie, that is all!  What I did was pack them in little cookie bags and tied them up to put in gift baskets, so that way I cound't eat any more!:tongue: I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

thanks Web...u too......this time of the year is so stressful that I have been substituting some protein drinks for meals...losing a little faster this way because
we end up eating more (parties etc) so I sort of offset it by being extra strick when i can....having 13 for dinner and I am the cook so it isn't easy.
Hows your wonderful new baby grandchild.   I have a 5 month nephew named
Milo who is coming to meet me at Christmas and I have gone a bit nuts buying
him cute baby things(so fun)...just bought a cd by an artist called lights...reminds
me of an improved more avant gard Cindy Laper.

Deanna -  Lilah just turned 5 months old on the 13th of this month.  When was your nephew born?  You must be so excited to see him this Christmas!  It is so easy to go nuts on the babies, and Lilah has me wrapped around her finger already!  I would do anything for that sweet little girl.   I am so excited to have her come spend the day with me on Christmas.  I am going to make sure I have all my cooking and everything done by noon, so I can spend the rest of the day just holding and enjoying her.  She is my little angel!   I will check out this artist Lights, you mentioned.  I happen to love Cindy Lauper so I will more than likely like this new artist, too, from your description.   I will let you know.  It sounds like you have a plan in handling the holiday parties, eating, and keeping some kind of balance.  That is great!  I hope your dinner party turns out wonderful.  Keep in touch. :grin::grin:

So what plans do you have for New Years? Anyone?  I plan on curling up on the couch and watching a good movie, like maybe Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday or The Notebook (again!).

Kitty:cat:...I can see why you are ready for a NEW year...you certainly have had a challenging 2009!  Sorry to hear about DH's back...that is miserable!  Those thermal back pads that you can buy in the pain reliever section of walmart work well.  The pads heat up for 8 hours and the relief is amazing.  Thermacare is one brand but I just use the off brand because it is cheaper.  Both are very reasonably priced and I have had great relief with them.  Remodeling this house caused several bad back strains lifting heavy doors and windows into place.  I hope this helps him...it relaxes the muscles so the spasms are relieved so the healing can begin.
Take care!

Thanks Sunshine,

he sticks with ice in the beginning. he called the doctor on Christmas and she ordered him a muscle relaxer and a steroid pack and i gave him some of my pain pills left from my hand surgery. he gets a little better everyday. he did try those heat pads and for him it made his back worse...who knows.  he has a couple of disc issues, will probably need surgery because he can't keep having this, and this time he doesn't even know what he did to cause it. where he teaches, they have a basketball tournament of which he is one of the directors...he lasted 3 hrs of an 14 hr first day of a 4 day tourn. and hasn't been back...so that is not good. but anyway, thanks for the advice, it is appreciated.HUGS,

Kitty

Hi Kitty.  I know you have had a rough year. I am wishing you a much better year for 2010.  I hope your DH feels better soon.  Back problems are awful.  I know! I have had them since 1987 ( a deteriorating disc) and it has been debilitated at times.  But since I lost weight, and did exercises to strengthen my lower back, I don't have as many problem as before.  But when I do, it is painful and it is hard to find relief.  What temporarily helps is using a compress of frozen peas on my back for periods of time and then a nurse told me about doing the cold for a few days and then alternating to heat pad for short periods of time the next few days.  Sometimes the cold works best, and sometimes I get more relief with heat.  It's weird.  Also, as I am sure you know, ibuprofen helps with the swelling and inflammation.  Sometimes I had no idea what I did and out of the blue I was down for the count.  Other times I knew exactly what I did (usually lifted something heavy and didn't bed my legs right, etc).  Whatever the cause, it plain sucks, as it can keep you from being functional.  I am very sympathetic to him!

I'm looking forward to you being back more after the first.  We need to encourage each other!
