I bet many of you just came to this post because you want to prove to yourself that ice cream is healthy, that ice cream can help you lose fat and help you build muscle? Well, there is good news for half of you and no so good for the other half. Research shows that the best kind protein is Whey protein. Whey is a by-product of the cheese making process and is present in dairy products It is now being used all over to world in form of Whey protein shakes and other supplements. The good news is - ice cream has lots of it. If you read some of my previous posts, you will find that if you are trying to build muscle, you should take-in high GI carbohydrates with fast absorbing proteins right after a workout. You get both of them from ice cream - sugar and whey. If you can buy a low fat brand of ice cream, it is possibly the BEST post workout small meal that you can take. Mind you, this is for people wanting to build msucle. If your aim is to lose body fat and you take ice cream, you won't get fat but chances are that you will slow down your fat burning ability. Reason being the amount of carbs that you will take in. It is advised to keep carbs quite low in a fat loss program. However, if you can find low fat and low sugar ice cream (of the diabetic ice cream), you can take it right after a vigerous workout. The good thing about a post workout meal is whether your aim is fat loss or muscle gain - the food you take in after a workout will get used up - atleast most of it. So even if you are on a fat loss plan, you can have ice cream right after a workout.
Who would have thought, ice cream - good for you :-). That's what I'm here to do. Make the impossible, possible :-). I recommend that you make a post workout shake with 2 scoops of ice cream. I have posted some recipes here. Feel free to try them.

That's all nice in theory. But the facts are that if you have high cholesterol, then ice cream can be one of the worst things for you.
I wish Ice cream was healthy, but it is not. And you can preach all you want, I know that I can't have it.
So, keep that in mind people when your in for next doctors appointment....

There's a lot of false statements in the original post. I would contest them, but there's really no point - this post is likely spam, since it looks like a mod has already deleted her link.

| I appreciate your comments but can you point out what do you disagree with in the original post? I specifically pointed out the types of ice cream that can be taken and the the kind of ice cream that can help you build muscle. Please point out the flaws in my post and I can try to clear them or get cleared (if i am in the wrong)

OK, if you insist.
If your aim is to lose body fat and you take ice cream, you won't get fat but chances are that you will slow down your fat burning ability.
I agree with what you said before about fast absorption. After a workout, cardio or strength training, your muscles are in need of fuel. The more quickly you can give them this fuel, the more beneficial it will be for your metabolism.
However, stating that you won't get fat from eating ice cream is a moot point. Too much of anything will make you fat - there are no exceptions. If you consume calories in excess of what your body burns, the body will store them as fat, whether they come from fat, carbs, or protein.
Further, even lowfat ice cream, like practically all lowfat dairy, has saturated fat, and 1 serving of ice cream is not as big as many people would like for it to be. Ice cream definitely fits it in the category of a food to eat sparingly. The right kind of yogurt is a much better alternative.
It is advised to keep carbs quite low in a fat loss program.
Actually, it is advised to keep the WRONG type of carbs quite low in a fat loss program. Ice cream is one of these wrong carbs, because the sugar contained within is refined. Carbs from the right sources, however, such as from whole grains and fruit, have been proven to remove fat from the body.
Junk in, junk out.
However, if you can find low fat and low sugar ice cream (of the diabetic ice cream), you can take it right after a vigerous workout.
Another thing - you have to be careful with low fat, and especially low sugar. Often, artificial ingredients are added to compensate, along with increased content of other things your body doesn't need, such as sodium.
Typically, it's not worth it to by reduced fat and reduced sugar varieties of anything for these reasons. Most of the time, you're better off eating the original variety. Low fat dairy is usually OK, but low sugar dairy is typically not.
The good thing about a post workout meal is whether your aim is fat loss or muscle gain - the food you take in after a workout will get used up - atleast most of it. So even if you are on a fat loss plan, you can have ice cream right after a workout.
All food in the body gets used up. It's true that your body processes food more quickly right after a workout, but do you really think that it ignores what's in the food? Sure, it gets digested more quickly, but if it has 10 grams of fat, your body is still going to absorb 10 grams of fat!
As far as fat loss goes, your body treats calories equally regardless of when they are consumed. If you consume 500 calories of excess after a workout, at the end of the week, you'll be a pound higher.
I'm not saying that people can't eat ice cream on a weight loss regimen. If ice cream is one of your favorite foods, then you shouldn't deprive yourself of it entirely, but it should still be eaten in moderation, and only from time to time. Further, there are many other foods that your body would appreciate more after a workout than ice cream.
Finally, there is the effect on cholesterol that Cindy mentioned, and cholesterol is something that all of us need to watch.

GEEEZZZZ! This sounds like another sales pitch. I am so tired of people coming on here with their get skinny quick products. It took me three years to get where I am at, with a great deal of hard work and non of it involved eating ice cream to lose fat.
Don't get me wrong, if you are doing something that is working for you, then please share, but don't be a slave to the machine and use the forum to sell products.
Like I said in another post. No matter what you do, nothing will replace eating healthy and exercising. If you are going to do some crazy diet, then there will be other ramifications to deal with later.
Just how I see it.....
