Hi guys!

I need some help and I have been browsing the boards here for awhile and I figured you wonderful people would be the ones to help me out!

I started counting calories and I need to know if I am TOO low. I started eating on average 1200-1400 a day. Or what would be the recommended amount I should eat. ( I have not started the exercise portion yet because I am worried about not having enough calories)

I am 29- 5'6, 211 pounds and my job consists of me running around for 6-8 hours a day.

I get all confused when I start trying to calculate my numbers and I am worried I am doing something wrong.

I know you guys get these plea's all the time but I would appreciate any help you guys can toss my way!

Are you M or F?

If F, then you should shoot for 1500 to 2400 calories, depending if you do any types of exercise, etc.  It seems a bit tedious (I know), but I did not like the general range of calories.  I tend to be a tad anal about data, so I used this site and found the caloric burn rate for each activity that I engage in each day (eating, driving, showering, sleeping, etc.) and found out exactly how many calories I would burn for a typical day, then adjusted the diet to allow for a decent caloric deficit to warrant weight loss.

Read up on as much as you can on this site!  It is one of the bes that I have seen on the topic of weight loss, and is very very easy to use!

Ask lots of questions.

Oh, the reason I gave you that range of calories is if you do any exercise or not.  If you do not then, shoot for the 1500-1600 calorie range, and no less.  If you do exercise, then go above 2000 calories a day.  The main key though is that you eat healthy foods and limit any binge eating.  I strongly reccommend eating several small meals a day.  (I eat about 7 times a day).  THis keeps you from feeling starved, and lessons the chance of binging when you do eat.  Also, drink lots of water to help flush the system out.

Good Luck!

I am female and have not started the exercise bit yet. That is next on my list!

I have read up on the site and everyone asks some great questions. I just get worried I am doing something wrong and need some reassurance!

I will keep reading up on it but this definitely gives me a great foundation!

Thank you so much for your answer =)

I eat low cal pudding, low cal fudge pops, fat free ice cream. Ice cream is hard to replace. I still break down and have some now and then.

My little reward each night is not too bad, although a tad high on the calories:

Low FAt Dannon Yogurt (6 tbsp)
Whey Protein (1 scoop)
Granola (1/2 cup)
Nestles Mini Morsels (1 tbsp)

Totals:
325 Calories
27 g Protein
8 g Fat
4 g Sat Fat
0 Trans
35 Carbs
5 g Fiber
142 mg Sodium
68 g Cholesterol

The big indulgence is the addition of the chocolate chips, but hey are so good!

LOL, Even though my parents are on the diet train now and both of them have lost 30 to 40lbs each. They still have icecream time, every night. I even get booted off of the phone with my mom so she can go have her icecream. :dizzy:

That sounds really yummy. Do you put the whey protein in alot of foods you eat? or just randomly.
